india-pak odi series
by sasha on Apr 17, 2005 10:08 PM

I usually don't write against our team and have always supported them. but it's time that they understand they have to do something too in order to maintain their respect. playing mindlessly and waiting for things to happen is not gonna work. I have to give credit to pakistan here as they came up really well and infact even in the matches they lost they gave a solid fight. In contrast, as much as others would argue, still remains the 'old team-india' who depends on one man (shifted from sachin to sehwag and dravid a bit) and once they fall, they shudder at the thought of mere playing and heaps of wicket and spineless cricket follow. i am really disappointed in team india and players of the calibre of sachin, yuvraj etc. they have to remember one good innings or past records are not gonna help.........or sadly as we see they just might and the same results for india ensue in the next season.

we were made to look like fools
by harish on Apr 17, 2005 09:48 PM

Hello there,

What a wonderful well rehearsed drama came to an end. Both the series's i mean. The one in pakistan and in india. Game plan one and Game plan two went very well.

At the end the common man, the person who bought the ticket and the ones sitting in front of the tv were the biggst fools. I believe both the serie's were stage managed by politicians from both the sides.

we are so emotional, both indians and pakistani's that we believe everything being said or done.

You people.......live in reality.

Regards,

Harish Krishnamurthy.

good one

Hai
Icant say more than rest of the cricket fans have told.It is disgusting to live in some other country
(UK)and have a humiliating defeat and that too very often!
If we look at the ratings we have 3 players in within 10 rankings in batting i.e.all for themself nothing for the nation??? and the team always last among the three!!!
YOU Indian Team members have got the responsibilities if you feel you cannot deliver that , please step down!!

Nirpinder Singh
cricket in India
by Nirpinder Singh on Apr 17, 2005 09:40 PM

"We also need to find and groom cricketers for the highest level of performance - much like the australian system. Our cricketers need to be toughened. We've been spoiling our batsmen far too long, and we have started hyping our bowlers too. For all this to happen, we have to start from the top - instead of the fans throwing water bottles at the players, they should reserve them for the likes of Dalmiya and his ilk, the corporates, & the politicians." Ranganathan, TS

I wholly agree with Ranganathan, TS. He is quite right. We do not have an adequate farm system for grooming young cricketers. What we should do is ensure that all first class cricketers play a portion of the year, 3 to 4 months on the domestic circuit. That will ensure that the level of domestic cricket stays high. It will also lead, indirectly to improvement of cricket pitches all over the nation, as more people will want to watch domestic cricket, and the financial condition of the state cricket boards will improve.
The cricket players representing India should be absolutely forbidden from starring in commercials. Apart from the fact that these are generally quite inane, the commercials serve no useful purpose, and the cricketers are already paid too well by the cricket board. The players should realize that they are not starring in Bollywood movies but playing a very real game. It is time that they are recognized for their performances and not by their brand endorsements.
Lastly it would not be a bad idea if the people could take control of the Board of Cricket Control of India. Since cricket is a sport liked by common persons, let the Board be a democratically elected body, and not one filled with rich, influential people. The people who are genuine followers of this game will take greater pains to decide who should represent the nation on the sports decision making body.

Shameful Performance
by Deepak Rade on Apr 17, 2005 09:37 PM

Dear Sir,
The whole indian team should be kick off. What a terrible act was done by them?I strongly requests to all the cricket lovers, viewers etc. to stop watching the Indian matches.I want to suggest one more suggestion. If all the cricket lovers can not control themselves from watching the game, they may do this. All the indians should appoint the Selection Commitee & all 11 players should be chosen which are batsmen.Because there is not so much difference between the runs which bowlers & part time bowlers conceed.

its a huge shame for the indian cricket team
by kamal on Apr 17, 2005 09:28 PM

i feel that this match has been fixed.bcoz just about a week before in deccon chronicle paper ,i read in the predictions ,that india will lose the oneday series to pakistan.not much surprisingly it happened.maybe this whole thing is just to get hype and money.nothing for the sake of the game .the spirit, the indians showed in the batting proves that.

India cricket team and advertisements
by shrinath on Apr 17, 2005 09:24 PM

My very frank opinion about the Indian cricket is that, the cricketers have been given a lot of freedom. Its my opinion that the cricketers, sepecially Saurav Ganguly should be thrown out of the team and the management should think seriously about bringing in new players who have been performing very well in the Ranji level.

Secondly the team should be barred from getting into commercials and concentrate more on the game keeping in mind that they are the ambassadors of the country and that the dignity of the country greatly depends on them. If they are and able maintain the dignity of the nation they do not deserve to be in this position.

As far as the selectors are concerned, I do still agree with what Mohinder Amarnath had said that they are a bunch of jokers. Further i would add even the cricket council to this bunch and ceriously feel that the complete commette should be scrapped and a new commette be created with the X cricketers only.

Reason for Debacle: Sachin Tendulkar
by Tameem on Apr 17, 2005 09:18 PM

The 3-4 matches that Sachin has won :Sharjah Cup final against Australia 1996, World Cup Knock against Pak 2003, First and Second matches of the Test Series against Australia 1998. Thats it. Nothing else.

Contrast with ANil Kumble. He has won us more than 20 Tests. Rahul Dravid has won us about 10 tests. Laxman 4. The maligned Azharuddin has won us about 7 tests and chased 10 per over thrice in one dayers.

These players put together have less money and clout than Tendulkar's interest accrual.

Does the cause of the rot become clear? Its too late for Tendulkar to change. He has lost the "Eye of the Tiger" that STallone had in the movie Rocky, the hunger of a poor savage fighting for food, thats what makes a unit a fighting unit.

Ads after ads after ads, its sickening. All he wants to do is score a regulation 50 or hundred to pile on to his 50,000 or so runs so that his sponsors are happy. Sachin scores 500 against Bangladesh, he will be called "Great". Put him on a seaming wicket and he will chicken out except in a losing cause or a draw. [Sydney 2003, selfish slow 200 that didnt give enough time for the bowlers.]

Get more Rainas, Yadavs, Dhonis, get the HUNGER.
