Crowd Problem in Kotla? Or was it Lack of Performance??
by ranjan sarkar on Apr 18, 2005 12:20 AM

Why blame the crowd?? Did they pay through their nose to see a no contest? The fact is that, this team is just not upto mens cricket! Take my advice, play women's cricket (use some make up folks). But there also, avoid Aussie Women team, other wise, even there you would be exposed.
The whole team has crumbled. Thanks Saurabh, Sachin and company. God bless them, keep them in the team, their contracts and sponsors are backing them, let the country cricket go to the dogs. Folks their contracts are more important, isnt it. They should be life members, even if they cant fathom the line of the deliveries, whether its an inswinger or out swinger, the position of their stumps. They have scored so many tons in the past, see the record books, no matter how many India won, thats no consideration!!!
Can any Indian Player stand up and be counted? How many times did Sachin, Saurabh, Shewag (without the dropped catches), Yuvraj, Kaif, Dhoni, Zaheer, Nehra, Pathan, Kumble can really say that they did for India's sake? Cricket is more than smiling and blowing kisses!!! Grow up and perform like a man, other wise you are a bunch of loosers and a sorry bunch at that.

about indian team
by vikas on Apr 18, 2005 12:20 AM

Hi Prem,

after looking the last 4 defeats to indian team, i suppose if we ask the players about what would be the spelling of cricket then they will refer dictionaries and then come to play international matches

Pakistan India
by Kapil Gupta on Apr 18, 2005 12:03 AM

The only thing I would like to say here, after reading some of the comments, is that one of the readerss used the derogatory term (Paki) for Pakistani's and rediff allowed that comment to be published.

I am very disappointed

K.

Shame Shame Shame

Throw the established batsmen out for a while..Let them finish all there AD contracts. Only then should they be even "Considered". Give them a professional treatment. These guys know that whatever they do, they wont be thrown out of the team.. Change that !!.

Media's role in cricket
by PS on Apr 17, 2005 11:28 PM

The Indian media is at a loss of words now after the dismal defeat at Pakistan's hands, the media's reaction is not really surprising for any of us. The Indian media has always been known to be biased and never ever constructive. Noted commentators and journalists like our very own Prem didn't think twice while blaming our captain for the losses easily forgetting that the man has amassed with an existing average of 43.5 which is in the league of Dravid and Tendulkar, yes the same Tendulkar who is also failing miserably but never criticised because people just accept anything going wrong with him. So why this stepmotherly treatment to Ganguly alone? Dravid's captaincy in the past two matches weren't discussed!Just look at what happened even after he was removed from the team. Did it help? Political Idiots like Mr Bedi are running for shelter, very mysteriously they will dissapear because the Indian media is not interested in picking their comments because all their predictions have been baseless. Just when Ganguly is not in the team or doesn't perform they come out and start criticising with the Indian media running after them like houndogs. But when he is performing. pure silence!

change in batting order required
by rajesh on Apr 17, 2005 11:27 PM

I think India is a bunch of selfish cricketers who play just to make money. our cricket is so depressing because it is in the hands of few marketers who want to create brand icons. look at sachin the most selfish of all when comes to batting. we would have won mohali test if he had shown urgency rather than thinking of his ton, we again would have won ahmedabad one day if he would have shown urency but ahemdabad one day we lost becoz of another selfish cricketer ganguly who was not in form but still came at crucial no. & waisted crucial balls. Mr. sachin is so selfish that when he was not allowed to score double century in pakistan he was so upset that he revealed his mind in the press conference inspite of the fact that india was in good position having claimed 3 wickets but he was bothered about himself rather than his team. he has never performed whenever india had to chase over 300. it was always ganguly who gave the start to idians in the crucial matches. i think indian batting order needs to be changed. selfish sachin shud come at no.6 ganguly at 5, dravid at 4, yuvraj at 3, dhoni & sehwag shud open & instead of kaif we need a big hitting allrounder who can hit sixes,

Our loss- match or captain
by Sunil on Apr 17, 2005 11:16 PM

Hi,

It seems this loss is just the tip of an iceberg of some simmering discontent in the team. It maybe that they are unhappy with the non-inclusion of Sourav in the team and so go about showing their discontent by throwing away wickets with only the stand-in captain fighting a lone battle.

Sigh.

crouching tigers...
by mathew on Apr 17, 2005 11:09 PM

With or without the Bengal Tiger, the men in blue have proved it yet again that they do not have the killer instinct in them to win. A convincing win would have been the most fitting gift for a coach who had taught the Indian team to "play".But unfortunatley, the Indians seemed to be determined to throw away the game right from the word go. Indians could have easily wrapped up the test and one day series, but for the careless attitude....
