Team India??
by Peri Balakrishnan on Apr 18, 2005 03:30 AM

Win the first two convincingly and then lose the next four and the series? What made the differnce during this transformation? Did the Indians transfer all the determination and discipline not to mention self estee to their opponents?
What's use of adopting a fancy name like "Team India" ( a cheap and unauthorized copy of "Team USA") when eleven idiots let the rest of team amounting to another 1.2 billion down? They may as well call themselves "Idiots Eleven" so that we don't expect much when they play!

Lack of commitment
by Shams Ur Rehman on Apr 18, 2005 03:14 AM

Our team lacks commitment. See the Pakistani players, they may be mediocres on any given day but when the occasion demands they raise the standard of their game.
Particularly, when it comes to playing with India, they raise their game to dizzy heights. Its all in mind and there is great commitment in Pakistani cricketers.
We all remember the Bishan Bedi team to Pakistan more than 25 years ago. Just 25 overs were remaining and Pakistan had 164 to chase.
Imran Khan, Javed Miandad and others did that unthinkable. We lost. In those days such fast batting was hardly seen. But still in 1978 Pakistan pulled off the winner.
Javed Miandad's six off Chetan Sharma is cliche to describe. But mediocres like Mudassar Nazar, Wasim Raja, Ijaz Ahmad and Aaquib Javed always perform much better than Indian 'greats'.
Indian players get enormous amounts of money but don't have dedication or the will to fight and save the match. No great performance, even ordinary fightbacks are not seen and our batting line up falls like pack of cards.

Pakistan Much better
by Vivek on Apr 18, 2005 02:12 AM

Indian Cricket is nowhere near Pakistan team right now. I beleive , Pakistan A team is enough to beat India.

Sourav , Sachin and Dravid should leave the team and give chance to young blood. They were good in past but the time has gone now.

We need some serious steps , otherwise we'll keep on facing humiliation like we faced today.

Indian Cricket
by G.Chandrasekaran on Apr 18, 2005 01:20 AM

Dear sir,
It is time the entire Indian Team is given a shake up. First of all , can anybody explain why we are still hanging on with the likes of Dinesh Mongia, Zaheer Khan, Ajit Agarkar etc>,? We have better talents in Sriram, Rayudu, Venugopal Rao , , Amol Majumdar etc who have to be encouraged by giving chances. But our policy: if you are from south you have few limited chances only. Take for instance Balaji; just till recently was a find and a darling; One match he doesnt perform , he is dropped. But Zaheer khan: he can conveniently lose World cup final by his irresponsible bowling, but he is still a hero for the selectors and for some important people in the Board. Why is this? Can' we learn something from the Australians? They don't have any qualms in dropping the likes of Waugh brothers if they don't perform. We Indians!! We have nostalgia working overtime iwith past performances. Mr. Sachin- have you done with the counting of your crores? Can you devote some time now for some serious and responsible cricket? If you are still obsessed with your crores, please step aside. We will be grateful.
Overall the Indian cricket stinks.

Bunty
Overrated sachin
by Bunty on Apr 18, 2005 12:55 AM

Sachin Tendulkar is the most overrated cricketer of our times. There is no point in scoring 25000 international runs when your team is still losing. I still cant remember an occasion when he won us a test match in the 4th innings of performed a rearguard action to save a test.

Cricket is a team game where the objective of a team is to win. In the process if an individual manages to excel, kudos to him. But Sachin's performances and India's victories seem to be mutually exclusive

Please concentrate on game rather than personal endorsements!!!
by Roshan on Apr 18, 2005 12:35 AM

It is a shame on Team India with so much potential to lose the series in India itself to our counterparts. A rumor is being spread that it is related to bilateral ties between India and Pakistan. Pakistan lost the series at their home to India and its our turn to lose the series. I don't know whether people are right about this, but a lot of rumors are going around. Sourav is a great leader, no doubt about that. I still feel that he should be the captain. I agree he is running through a bad patch, but I am sure he will make a come back. About team India, I am appalled of people criticizing Sachin. People should realize that he has delivered goods a lot of times in the past. Team India is mentally strong if he is playing in the Eleven. He is a very very big asset to Team India.Viru is an attacking player and maybe sachin is playing a bit slow nowadays coz there is no need for him to attack the opposition as we have an attacking batsman already. Team India should concentrate more on the game rather than their endorsements. Take the example of Australians. What can we say about them? Every player is a dread to the opposition team. Time to wake up Team India and let's make a new start.
