i think bruce rid is not deserve as a temporary bowling coach.i think india need a parmanent bowling coach.walsh, akram, kapil these bowling maestroes are my choice.rid is not a renowned bowler.zahir, nehera
balagi needs some technical bowler.as india's bowling side is poor so we need a parmanent bowler not a part time bowler.

May be we have tried Kapil by providing him a Responsiblity of Coach to India He has not proved him well. So It's better to have a bowling coach Like Wasim Akram Who is willing to take that role. We have 2 left Arm bowlers in our team.

do we need a foreign coach?

for the years we havn't got the enough fire to threten the opposition. Kapil was a great crickter no doubt; but do u think any opposition was ever worried about our bowling line.
We never had the luxury of four firing seamers like vasim who can wind up the opposition team within a hundred.
We have to accept our weakness of slow pitches & try to emerge as bowling power.I like to know India as a team not as a single hurdle called Sachin.

yes we need it

Yes,i think we need a bowling coach(indian or foreign).BCCI has no problem on financial fronts. If our bowlers feel good or think that their performance should rise then its surely worth the money. Many of ex-cricketers are saying its waste of money for a coach who will tell u 2 bowl right line and length but if improves the mental state of Zaheer and co then 80% of problems in pace department are gone.

Bowling coach

Yes we really need bowling coach. I accept we have sufficient talent as far as Spinners are concerned. But Tragedy of india is, It is not able to produce any new Fast bowlers of International standard.
We hardly see (or rather never seen) any of the indian fast bowler bowling at speed nearby 150kmph or bowling inswinging yorkers etc.. These are the kinds of bowler we must try and produce in our country and for that we will have to bring in Good foreign coach.

agreed that india has some ofthe best bowlers like kapildev, etc. but it is the department which has to strengthen up. we don't have good coaches. a very good bowler may not be a very good coach. And vice versa.

comment on Reid as india's bowling coach
by Aparna on Dec 07, 2003 09:39 PM

I dont see anything wrong in appointing Bruce Reid as the bowling coach for india. Anything which can do some good for the side should be welcomed by everyone.
I dont understand the reason for Mr. Kapil Dev's dissappointment in this decission taken by BCCI.

Questions were raised on the appointment of a foreign coach when Jhon Wright was called upon to do the job for us. But he has done a great with the side.

Iam sure Reid will also do a good job.

Why not?
by ramprasad on Dec 07, 2003 09:26 PM

Why not? I think we need a change in perspective and its not a bad idea to get foreigner as coach. We can always bring in our ex-cricketers as specialist trainers for well-defined tasks for example. There is no doubt there are a few qualified people for the job of coach in India. But there is no reason to change coach for the sake of proving patriotism.
