Cricket is an international game. I see no merit in limiting to coaches from India. Indian team deserves the best help they can get. It is wonderful for Kapildev to express his personal opinions. What did he do to help the team?
Firstly i fail to understand why we need to have this discussion on whether we need a 'Foreign' coach.
Cicket is now a global sport and all countries playing the sport employ the services of professionals who they feel would be able to add value to their team and enhance performance.
Our IT professionals are amongst the best in the world and provide their services to countries that are very IT savvy.
Its not a question of nationality... its a question of whats best for the team.
Yes India needs a foriegn bowling coach...we indians are still in awe of anything foreign...But do we have any world class bowlers who wud actually tell our bowlers how to bowl in conditions like in australia ?
I dont know why people are after B. Reid appointment. he is always better coach then any bowling coaches available with us now. A coach need not be a great performer on his days of playing cricket. IS john buchanan a great player of his own time.... but still he is able to keep aus on top of anybody else. So my mess to all people who opposes reid appointment are behave professionally... dont put desi or non desi in sports atleast... dont pull regionalism into cricket... we want our team winning...No doubt Kapil is great performer and did well in aus too.. but last time he was coach when we visited aus.. How many times did india made Aus all out... so i want to say that coaches need not be great performers... and one more thing is if indians are coaches they will bring hell of regionalism into selections... the cant just identify talent... ofcourse they are great performers.
plz behave professionally as we all want india to win......
The conditions in India are not favourable to the fast bowlers and the fine technique and skill cannot be acquired here. A foreign coach, specially familiar to Australian conditions can fill in the voids in providing the extra bit that is often extremely crucial.
While a Foreign Coast would definitely be of help to prepare Indian Pace bowlers mentally for the foreign conditions, We must also sadly admit that Indian bowlers have not lived up to their potential so far. With retirement of Swing bowlers like Kapil and Manoj, and selectors' non-committal attitude toward Mohanty, the situation only seems to have gotten worse. So there is over reliance on speed and bounce rather than on direction and control. The number of wides and no-balls they deliver of late is amble proof of this.
Additionally, the Indian bowlers appear to have forgotten the fact that there is a weapon called "Yorker". One can admit that with batsman dancing down the track more often bowling a yorker is more difficult but that doesn't mean you should stop trying that art altogether.
So first let the Indian bowlers follow the basics more consistently before seeking external help. The board can substantiate their efforts by preparing Pace, Bounce and swing friendly tracks atleast during their conditioning camps.
