Yes, by all means. India do need foreign coaches in all areas. Just because India still do not take sports in its real terms - A Business. World has adopted new technology, medicines, vitamin suppliments, psychological influence and etc. Further Indian lack professional discipline. Once they get success we make them gods and they start beleiving as if they are. Classic examples are Sehwag, Yuvraj and Mohammad Kaif. These self proclaimed gods has to come down to earth and must see them selves as what they are in all actuality.

Foreign coaches have different set of definitions then we do. They approach their job more professionally then we do. And this is the only difference we have in us which results in us finishing second. It is time for us to start changing our attitudes and behavior. Kapildev was great but what has he contributed towards fast bowling issues, we are facing today.

Perhaps we also need a running between the wickets coach, a catching coach, an appealing coach and a tossing coach.Seriously, what we need most importantly is 11 class players and some discerning selectors. The rest are all gimmicks and psychological props rather much like the student of today who cannot survive without attending coaching classes.

Appointment is Justifiable
by anjali_s_varma on Dec 03, 2003 01:55 PM

I agree that india has many bowlers who have served the country in the international arena .

But none of them were so impressive outside india especially against Austalia. It is proven from the fact that for the last 17 years not even in a single test Indian bowlers were able to pick up 20 wickets.

So the appoinment of a foreign bowling coach is justifiable.

Yes, we need a bowling coach. In australia we need a some one who s aware of the conditions. And Bruce iis the one. Look at Bracken, he s a different bowler in 2003 than he was in 2002 after he went 2 reid. Indians have the talent in the bowling dept, but they are not able to put it right. Some one needs to remind them of the success they had in SA for the world cup. Nehra and Khan are the gems. And the guys like Kapil Dev, nothhing personal and with due respect, shud keep their mouths shut as they r not qualified 2 speak up. What did Indians achieve when he was the coach on the prev tour. 0-3 loss in tests and a single victory in C&U series. And bruce being a left armer himself can prove to be angel for Khan, Pathan and Nehra. Ajit can learn vital tips about consistency. Balaji s a inipid poke. Bring GOD to train him, tht chap will be without a wkt.

Reetu Singh
foreign cricket coach
by Reetu Singh on Dec 03, 2003 01:26 AM

Why only a foreign coach? I think we need a foreign Government, a foreign BCCI......everything should be foreign. We all are so obsessed with everything foreign and imported.... that we thought of importing a cricket coach also. But think about this: cricketers are not performing well, so we need a foreign coach. If our government is not performing well, (we all will agree to it), then what do we need? Shall we import the US government to look after our internal affairs? What about our railways, airlines, municipalities, and all other government agencies?
