Indian way of doing things
by Makarand on Apr 06, 2003 01:24 AM

Instead of luading people's great efforts and success, we Indians pull them down like frogs in a well. Too bad we don't have the magnamity to give credit where it is due.

The question to ask is --- will Wright want to stay after the

Wake up Indians...don't be brainwashed
by Bhaskar on Apr 05, 2003 11:56 PM

Hey watever all these past indian players say is only a way to them hogging the lmelight for sometime..yes accepted that many of them played great cricket for the country but that was it..Their role as anything other that playin is unwanted since given the chance they hav not been able to produce even half the results the present coach has..The day by day improving standards of the Indian team is only a tribute to the dedication and professionalism of John..and if at any time the coach has to be changed,it shud be under a case where the performance goes down over a long period and a much more better and more professional coach is there to replace him..Under no other condition shud the coach be changed..and my sincere request to the bandwagon of previous indian playersfor heavens sake dont bring up all these unwanted matters up again in media...let the players play under saurav peacefully with John overlooking their progress..thanx

Shridhar
Dalmiya and his cronies
by Shridhar on Apr 05, 2003 10:41 PM

The article by Faisal Sharif is excellent and highlights effectively the heavy politicking that goes on behind scenes in the world of Indian cricket.

Dalmiya is as crooked as they come, and there is nothing more that needs to be said, except that if he were to have his way, the Indian cricket team would be spending more time in Dhaka than any other place in the world.

Kapil has always been a master politician from the time he used to play the game. His pathetic record as a coach has already been highlighted. Outside his playing career, his major contributions have been mouthing "Palmolive da jawaab nahin" for the palmolive ad and crying on national television. My personal opinion is that Gavaskar should have been awarded the title of Indian cricketer of the century, but that is a debate for another day. Kapil also headed the pitches committee to create more sporting tracks in India, however everyone knows as to what came out of that.

Gaekwad has shown his mental capabilities or the lack of it in full measure while commenting on the world cup on Sony and Vengsarkar, well, he needs to get into the news one way or the other, and keep reminding people about his presence, to try and get some publicity for his academy.

Be Indian - Undermine the Indian Team
by Neville Gay on Apr 05, 2003 08:35 PM

Hello Faisal,

Well done! I was very pleased to read your article on our team and coach. You could not have addressed this issue better. Its sad but true, we will definetely see a new coach not in the distant future the moment John has ONE failure to his name.

Personally as an Indian cricket TEAM fan, i have never seen our team LOOK or FEEL better. They are just in a different ZONE now. Yes, thanks to their own talent, committment and dedication but also the guidance under their 3 coaches or firangi coaches as our older senior indian cricketers think.

I sugges Kapil is better off playing Golf and i dont know what Dilip's other sporting hobby is????

Thanks Faisal, i do hope all of our indians have seen your article only to know what our BCCI is made up of.

I have started reading Prem's and your articles of late. Interesting reading and good constructive work.

Regards,

Neville

Politics-the only germ that destroys everything our country has
by Biplab Gohain Sangma on Apr 05, 2003 07:45 PM

I am not going to write much but all that I'll write now holds true for everything that goes on in our country has its roots in the dirty politics that goes on.It is sad that inspite of everything that we possess we are not able to be right up there and instead we end up hearing of people being massacared. The same might happen if the dirty politics ends up destroying a team that personifies unity.Sad that we Indian never learn to reward people who at least teaches us that.I regret that people who once represented the India before, and later even spoke about the present seniors of being money minded are now, doing the same.I hope the entire Indian team revolts against the board from removing the trio from the family that has been unified after a long time.ALL THE BEST TO Ganguly and the others for that!

Foreign Coaches
by naren renganath on Apr 05, 2003 07:26 PM

Mr. Vengsarkar seems to forget the long memory of the fan base in India. I have seen Dilip Vengsarkar play the W.Indies in the 80's(Marshall in particular; that too on staid Indian wickets. He is no Saurav. Only with Saurav do we see a backbone to standup against, sledging and mistreatment by other teams. We see the will to WIN. When did Vengsarkar display any of this? Did he protect his team as Saurav does. The teams he captained(and played in) were mediocre to shabby compared to the one we have now. How dare he criticize this team or Saurav ?

Coach Wright is the best that has happened to India in a long time. He has made this team truly professional in mindset and application. Kudos to him. Shame on people who think that he can be replaced. Shame on Them!. It is an ultimate disservice to India in the name of being Indian.

Madhu
Foreign coach
by Madhu on Apr 05, 2003 07:07 PM

Dear Sir/ Ma'am

I strongly feel that introduction of Foreign coach has improved the standards of Indian Cricket far beyond ones expectation..... Our youngsters might have succumbed to the pressures of World Cup Final, but coach Wright has shaped each and every player to ones fullest potential and here we do see the best Indian team one has always dreamt about.... One last word for the talk about hiring Indian senior players as the Coach .....Hiring them means "Taking the standards of Indian Cricket to trash"........
