Be Indian, undermine Indians
by Mahesh on Apr 08, 2003 10:04 PM

John Wright is the best thing that happened to Indian cricket for ever. If the BCCI and Kapil & Co. wants to remind the indian cricket fans how the team was performing before John Wright took over, they can do so by replacing him by any other Indian coach.

I am not against the indian coaches, but everybody had seen what they have achieved and how the team performed under them. If the Indian team has to continue their recent performance, I definitely suggest Wright to be right man for it. Let whatever the Kapil & Co say.

When will we learn?

Really an eye-opener regarding the past coaches of our team!! Great work, Faisal !! It is universally known that Dalmia is a great manipulator and has the required credentials (!) to become a politician. That is why, straightforward people like Mr.Gray and Mr.Speed hate him at sight. Now, Dalmia has instigated the ignorant and 'peasant' minded Kapil to spearhead the "Throw out, Wright" campaign to undermine Indian cricket. One must not forget the problems Kapil created for the 'then' captain Sunny. He was primarily responsible for creating the North vs West rift in the team. Kapil was a great personality on the cricket field, but was a dismal failure as a coach. He simply does not have the qualities and abilities needed to be a good coach !!! A person who never helped a fellow bowler (read, Srinath) has no right / business to open his BIG MOUTH, in this regard.
I, for one, refuse to believe that Patil transformed Kenyan cricket !?!?! Kenya is still a pretty ordinary team at international level and most of the Indian state teams can beat the Kenyans comfortably !! Simply said, Kenya reached the semifinals because Srilanka had an "off day" and NZ refused to travel to Kenya !?!?! And regarding Gaekwad, one can only laugh at him as he was a pathetic coach and has proved recently that he is an abominable commentator, as well !?!?!? Kapil, Vengsarkar and Gaekwad must feel ashamed for talking ill of a hardworking, successful and gentleman coach like John and blatantly canvassing for Patil !!!! This is "coach fixing" at its worst and must be nipped in the bud before it afflicts Indian cricket !?!?!??!

Wright is the best coach-Stop playing games Mr. Dalmiya
by vra on Apr 08, 2003 12:10 AM

John Wright is the best thing happened to Indian cricket in a long time. Kapil and Vengsarkar should shut up. I have great respect for them as players. But I am suprised they are just saying whatever Mr. Dalmiya wants. It's all Mr. Dalmiya's games. I am surprised even Vengsarkar is playing into Dalmiya's hands. May be he is expecting some favour from Dalimya. My request to all Indian veterans, ask your concious, you know Wright is the right person to coach India.

Foreign ideas..
by Varghese Swamy on Apr 07, 2003 11:18 PM  | Hide replies

I thought of just mentioning the following.

When South Korea was brought to the QF/SF (I don't
recall which) in the soccer world cup, the Koreans
went ahead and honored their foreign coach by making
him a S Korean citizen and offering many other things.
Here, we have a man who has done great things for the
Indian cricket team (probably 'coached' the team in the true, professional sense) since he took over,
and here are our former "greats" waiting for opportunities to stab this man from behind.. God bless...

Faisal Shroff on Kapil, Sandeep, Anshuman, Dileep et al

When did these hallowed Indian cricketeers display a modicum of brain power and strategy? They were great players on their day but more phlegmatic than strategic.
If Jagmohan Dalmiya is promoting this type of activity India will not reach any heoght in the next World Cup and Saurav Ganguly will resign as Captain rather than be humiliated in this manner.
Remember a basket full of crabs and Indians!
