Only if it was a fair defeat

What Sarita did is perfectly understandable. It was clear that it was not a purely sporting contest between the boxers. There was politics and she was protesting against that. She was very right in refusing the medal because the medal was a result of politics and not sport. She is a sports woman. Those who are asking her the question should turn around ask the Boxing authorities, the blatant favoritism shown for the Korean boxer, was it sportsman like ?

Yes I agree with you. How can anyone accuse her of lack of sportsmanship when politics was being played and not sports? She protested against the spirit of politics and not the spirit of sportsmanship.

Indian Team Management and the judges on the bout were unsportsmanlike. The Management of the Contingent should have taken up the issue. Sarita Devi should have lodged Official complaint immediately after the bout was over.

No way - Sarita was right to protest
by RAJENDRA on Oct 03, 2014 12:24 PM

You rob a person and then u expect him/her to be sporting is the height of stupidity. What our 100 of officials accompanying the contigent were doing. Are they there to show their faces before the cameras. Shame on our officials for not backing hurt and deprived Sarita of at least silver if not gold.

By demanding Sarita show " Sportsman spirit " in accepting The bronze medal, the organising committee is accepting that she was wronged.
