I am an admirer of sachins cricket and his personal conduct on the field.
It's sad to see that in India great champion means only Tendulkar. Is it because he's got so much money and cricket is ardently followed. Isn't it olympic sports, chess and other sports. I don't think if it was not for Tendulkar, Indian govt wouldn't have included sports for Bharat Ratna. I still cannot fathom out how Vishwanthan Anand's achivement is less than Tendulkar's and Dhyanchand who was greatest Hockey player of all time. It's shame that such highest civilian awards are also rewarded to people who are dear to central govt not to those who deserves most. I'm not saying sachin deserves it. If any one deserves Bharat Ratna amongst sports it is Dhyanchand and Anand first and others later.
If at all, bharat ratna has to be given! In todays generation Vishy Anand stands Tall!!!!!!
He plays and excels in a game which is being played in all the countries of the world.
I am appalled that none of the indians remember this illustrious son!! we Indians run only after popularity, having sold our thinking abilities to herd mentality..

I fail to understand whats the objective of bharat ratna ! Is it meant to be given just becuase sombody is glorified ? whats sachin's contribution to india other than scoring some runs ? There is still poverty, hunger jobless ness spread around. I would like to make it very clear that all the hundreds are for tendulakar, that doesn't serve anybody in any way, he is glorified, rich, adulated( but all for him. The benefit doesn't reach others in any way). An obscured person who has given something back to the society is a much more deserving person for any-ratna than a gloried-individual). p.s. I am not againt sachin....but then I feel the objectivity of bharat ratna is getting lost....

Whatever runs and centuries sachin tendulkar has scored he has been compensated through lots and lots of money. He has amassed lots of money not only through playing cricket but also from advertisements and appearances.
There is a toothpaste / toothbrushe brand called SACH, promoted by him with his pics on every pack of toothpaste and toothbrush.
and why to forget his showing so called gifted Ferrari ( compensation by Fiat for being its ambassador) as cricketing award and getting a waival of custom duty and now selling it like a business.

Here we are talking about giving Bharat Ratan award to a sports person (very first in the country. Obviously that sportsperson should be the best, on all parameters from the list of all sportspersons, country has produced.
Minimum we can do for the dignity of bharat ratan as well as sports is that such person should be a true sportsman, fully dedicated to sports, not a person who plays sports only part-time dedicating balance efforts in earning money (like a bussinessman)

But please do tell me....the award given to Lata mangeshwar is also waste? as her songs could not reduce poverty, hunger jobless ness and even she got money for singing also audio companies got the money, producers and music directors got the money. If u say her singing gave pleasure for then that is not the cretiria to given an award i feel. And back to sachin.....tell me if Bharat ratna can be given to sports person or not...if yes then sachin is very much eligible as he created worlds which earlier indian or world cricketers could not and later also not remote possible. Here only discussion should be whether it can be given to sports personality or not nothing else.

dhyan chand didn't his due then..sachin has already got lots.. so he deserves it. problem is that most people esp young dont even know DC and n his magic
The proposal to give Bharat Ratna to sports person is quite appreciable.But why only Tendulkar's name? Other world champions won't sweat for the country?
