Politics everywhere. Why BJP or anyone should throw weight. If anyone deserves, should get it. We have seen earlier that Bharat Ratna was given to get political mileage. Dyan Chand was great, and so too Sachin. But no place for politics in sports.
Sachin Faces Mere Three Countries in a Year( Out Of Modest Nine). Leander Paes on other Hand faces ENTIRE WORLD at Each Grand Slam and ATP, in short Leander is pitted against Entire World 10 Times in a Year. With Such a massive competition, leander's 10 Grand Slam and Olympic Bronze has more importance than sachin's so called Great Achievements. 30% of Test Cricket matches End-up in Draw. Cricket player( Batsman) NEED NOT have to worry about Result, he is free to play according to his own personal Records, Sachin has DONE EXACTLY like this and Faced only 30% of competition to that of Leander. Besides Dhynchand and Anand , Leander is more suited for Bharat Ratna than Medicore Sachin !!!

We are a nation where we cannot understand depth and reality of true sports. . Herd mentality is everywhere. . they might ban u for speaking against so called GOD.
If any sportsman deserve it foremost, it is major Dhyanchand, unfortunatly, todays generation do not even knows his contribution, but he was wizard, though i am die hard fan of Sachin, but once you are making amendment in law, than the "Bharat Ratna" for Sports should goes to Major Dhyan Chand first, than to Sachin.

Correct me if I am wrong. Dhyanchand played in a Era when Hockey was in development stages. Not many teams were good in Hockey. I am not taking away anything from him but I think now Sachin deserves first.

Partially you are right same will apply to tendulkar also countries like bangla zimbabwe are minnows remove all runs he score against those countries. Whatever it may be Dhyan chand is fully deserved then PT Usha Milkha singh V anand the pair of leander and mahesh then only come the number of Sachin.
