He is not a Tamilian. He is a Brahmin and I know how much Tamils hate Brahmins. No wonder he moved out of India to Spain.

when an indian wins he will be then again classified as indian tamilian or indian bihari etc....we are born to be classified, divide and be ruled again and again and again.....till we get extinct!!!!! What a pity!! Indians will never grow!! north Vs. South, muzlms Vs. hindus.....upper Vs. dalits..
Congratulations Viswanathan Anand. Your win is glorious, unbeatable and wonderful. Despite the very tire some 40 hours bus journey, you could come on top with flying colours. To the Viswa (world) of Chess you are the true Nath (the reigning champion).
In my assessment and opinion Viswanathan Anand is one of the best bet and best candidate as far as sports are concerned for conferring Bharat Ratna on him. Because he is FOUR times world chess champion and 11 times world chess champion in the rapid format of chess apart from his many world class achievements in chess. And also he is the only player in the world to win in all formats (game, match and knockout) the world title. And finally and most importantly Chess was born and originated in India and by the Indians. And he is the first Indian to be the world champion in this Indians invented game.
For what it is worth, this is the most amatuerish I have EVER read. All the questions posed are yes/no or one from the multiple choices. It sounds more like a lawyer grilling the witness. Come on, Vishy is a champion and he is good with the words. Let us read the champion articulate it for us and not you Shobha Warrier.
'Of all the four titles you have won so far, was this one the toughest and the most eventful one?' - No, I was getting bored waiting for my wife to pick me up so we can go for a burger. It is a championship game, acknowledge the guy's accomplishment and give it some respect.

all dhobi are on diet these days.. and blaming each other for their shameless lose.. lol
There was an article in expressbuzz and described in chessbase that narrates how much this one man - Anand - has done for Indian chess. A one-man phenomenon who has done more for one sport in India for years to come than anyone else. That qualifies him for the highest honor that the country has to offer.
Congratulations to Anand for continuing as world champion. Lalit Modi who MODIfied the format of cricket game to make it a money-spinner and made India a powerful focus of the game, may find new ways how to make a similar grandeur in chess, as well.
Now everybody knows that the Indian cricket team does not represent India. They represent a cricket club called BCCI. All BCCI and IPL multimillionerrs should learn from Vishwanathan Anand that country is more important than a club. Sports is not just about money.

Yes sir!!! Sad but true. India's highest award but not for any sports person in India. But if you commit a murder or two, lick a politician or two, get into a party or two, commit a scam or two etc etc, well, you can be considerd for Bharat Ratna, then.

When it can be given to a musician or a dancer, I dont understand why not for a sportsperson who has made India proud
