Federer is extremely lucky to get his 15th Grand slam. The match yesterday was totally dominated by roddick, only he did'nt have the luck with his side. Although I wanted federer to win but I felt pitty for the poor Roddick, who after dominating the match could'nt win it

when you are talking about champions - the difference bwteen them is like splitting hairs. the person who overcomes that hair splitting difference is the true champion. i would not qualify/ quantify it as mere luck. it was federers day and he played that tiny percentage better during crucial times. only that can explain his victory, taking nothing away from roddick.

It is always said that fate favours the brave... Fedrer played a brilliant match at wimbildon to win his 15th grand slam and he played his one of the best match. Some will call it luck but it is his hard work and desire that made the history. I congratulate him for one more grandslam to his name....

roddick was a true sportsman, you know why?he did not cry when someboby won.nothing was killing him to see someone other than him lay his hands on the trophy.roddick was atrue champion, unlike fed who gets fed up to see others win.hats off to roddick you were the winner

the person who cried when he lost a few times, also has the distinction of winning 15 major titles. he's the true champion. and losers like you will whine about him being emotional, while ignoring his phenomeal achievement, just because your favorite champ did not win.

shame you cannot appreciate the man's brilliant game.

rodcikk was better
by A M on Jul 06, 2009 10:16 AM

it was just an odinary tnnis played by roddick in the 2nd set tie break which gave fedrer a break through, but roddick played some fantastic tennis through out the match, i mean who could imagine the last set to be 16-14, even the legends would nt have thought the same and luck was on the side of RF as well

two greats playing in the same decade

Fedex! needs no mention. But Rafa is also going even faster to catch up with Fedex. The way Rafa plays, the fedex 15s is not safe. Fadex, you need at least another 3-4 to make it out of reach for rafa. This time at Wimbledon 2009 fedex lucky as rafa is out with injury, otherwise, we all know... dont mistake me. I'm a fan if fedex thats why i fear...

While agreeing on Rafa's Tennis, Ponkoj. I doubt Rafa's mileage. Experts say, the kind of tennis he plays is highly injury prone. Already both of his knees are having serious injury. I doubt his retention of form over the years.

Tough Ask
by Bhoot Pret on Jul 06, 2009 10:10 AM

That's really a very tough ask. Both the players were simply superb. But to analyse performances. Fedex was not able to break Andy's serve until the Championship Point. Fedex sent down a whopping 50 aces, against Andy's 27. On Unforced Errors front, it was close 33 (Andy) to 38 (Fedex). On 1st Serve % it was close again with 70% (Andy) to 64%(Fedex). Fedex comes clean on Winners with 107 compared to Andy's 74, but point to be noted is there are 50 aces in that where as Andy has 27. It was close contest on other fronts as well like, Receiving points Won (21%F, 28%A), Net Approaches (61%F, 64%A), Total Pointw Won (213F, 223A), Fastest Serve Speed (143F, 135A in Mph), Avg 1st and 2nd Serve (127/105F, 118/98A).

Although, my take would say both players deserved to win. There's nothing to take away from neither players. But Andy managed to sneak his nose in front, till he faltered at the crucial junxture.

I welcome serious critiques on that.

Federer vs Roddick
by aspi bodhanwalla on Jul 06, 2009 10:04 AM

Tennis is cruel and it was proved yesterday in the final. Federer could not break Roodick's service even once in the entire match, and when he did break he won the match !!!!
Roddick was better on the day, but Federer once again proved why he is the champion. Great match to see and we hope to see some more of them in future also.
