Roddick played brilliant tennis yesterday except last game and second set tie breaker but FEDEX was not at his best yesterday.

Who was better?

This is a nonsense quetion of ' who was better'. Once the match is over and Roger has won, thou' a closely fought one, means the winner has played a better game.
Roger Federer was better on that final day and hence won. It was not that he won due to rain interruption or Duck-worth Lewis method.
It was straight forward win for his 15th grand slam title. Roddick never had any match points. He got four set points in second set which is wasted. So how can he be better with such a failure. Andy has only 1 slam title. He has a now a 19 loses and 2 wins against roger and andy's luck ran out in the end.

the weight of expectation is too much even for a champion
by wizardo id on Jul 06, 2009 11:28 AM

roddick did what he did best - be a classic underdog, and pushed fedex to the max. fedex had incredible expectation in this age of near complete 360 degree hounding. that he won with so much expectation is phenomenal. only he know much it is - he's the only man with 15 major titles.

yess its RADDICK...

He played superbly and looks like he is un-beatable. I had watch the complete match.
He is unlucky to loose the match. Federer never played his game, as i expected so nervous..or what ever is disturbing him. He is not upto the mark yesterday. I thought its straight 3 - 0 win for FedEx. But Raddick is too good to challenge him. He is great and good come back.

Kudos to Roddik and Fed Exp..
by PHANEEESHA SATYANARAYANA on Jul 06, 2009 11:19 AM

It was a marathon match with fortune tumbling towards each player at different points of the game. Fed was streched upto his limit.. even with more than 50 aces and a 100 winners!!! (Though a lot of unforced errors as well). But overall evn though I am a hardcore fan of Federer, I was cheering both Roddick and Federer equally by the mid of 5th set. Roddick's game was so astoundingly good that I would have been totally happy even if he had won the match!! He played a near perfect game till 4 hours 10 mins without giving a single break which is astounding in itself when done against the great Fed. The new coach of Roddick seems to work wonders on him, his mental capabalities have gone through the roof. He was so calm throughout the game. But in the end Fed held him off a bit longer than he could sustain. Really hats off to both the champions... Kudos for giving us such wonderful entertainment!!

Roddick was better in rallies and finishings and Federer had the ability to test the better person. Apart from the ability Federer did not exhibit his smart returns in this match.
