I will tell you guys this man kalmadi should be sacked-first for doing a shoddy and inept job of preparing delhi for the C games! And now for plotting and scheming with his cronies to shift the blame of gross mismanagement to others (incld Mr Hooper). During the press conference by Flannel one could see his discomfort and unease cause here were a bunch of experts who were laying bare their mismanagment of Indian Olympic committee. Does he not care for India’s pride at all. Most of the people I have talked with are soo ashamed of our preparations but instead of feeling apologetic look at his audacity and arrogance. He is a non performing inept and egoistic politician! He should be sacked!
Guys, Just wait for the Commonwealth Games. It will be the crowning glory for Kalmadi. There is no doubt that it will be a spectacular disaster, unparalled in history.
Kalmadi's camp was prompt in putting up posters in Pune congratulating Bindra - but Kalmadi's photo and praise for Kalmadi was far more prominent that that of Bindra!! Kalmadi sucks... but that is old news. Our own Sports minister Mr Gill... could not recognize Gopichand! Did anyone notice Mr Gill amongst the spectators during the Wimbledon final? What was he doing there... on exchequer's money? Shame on him too..
Thanks Mahesh & rediff for your effort. Sadly, given the absence of character in our administrators (sports as well as other governmental spheres), it may well turn out to be a wasted endeavour. Might be better if Abhi Bindra & his team mates are asked to practise their craft using these officials as targets. India will not only end up with many more Abhi Bindra-like gold medalists, but with a thorougly cleansed sporting admin environment.
What else do you expect from Kalmadi. First, he made the Chinese Government switch the official invite and ensured that Sonia Gandhi (Dr.Sonia Gandhi(?) after the undeserving honorary doctorate from Madras University)with her family in tow was at the Olympics. Once the medal winners reached India, they were made to call on the PM, the President and then Sonia. My question is why Sonia? The PM and the President are constitutional heads and one can understand the atheletes being forced to call on them. But why Sonia? Even if some one says because she is Chairperson of UPA, it is not a constitutional post but a created post to enable her to hold the strings of the Prime Ministership. Given this, it is utterly shameful to make the medal winners to call on her. Just like the undeserving doctorate, she is being given undue importance in the country by the Congress, just because she is from the FAMILY. Well FAMILY connections help, even if you are Italian!
