Kalmadi... What stuff you are made of ?
by vijay angelo on Sep 05, 2008 03:42 PM

I really regret for the way our athletes are treated. I saw in BBC where gordon brown and Medvedev receiving all their athletes in the airport. Infact, Britian has chartered a BA flight to get all their athletes back. And these stupid indian officials are travelling in business class with both kumars travelling in economy class... God!! please save this country from ridiculous people like kalmadi. Actually, we have to make a olympian as IOA president rather than these scumbag people...

Corrupt kalmadi
by vishwesh venkatraman on Sep 05, 2008 03:38 PM  | Hide replies

Its always been known how corrupt and unscrupulous kalmadi has been. So to expect an ass like him to behave decently is out of question. the fact he is been the IOC pres for God knows how many years. Good starting point would be to sack him and some of his chamchas.

kalmadi is probably president for life and after him, his son, then his grandson and so on...

as someone said - it is not because of kalmadi but in spite of kalmadi that our boys have won medals. in this case winning one medal is like winning 10 medals - battling thru adverse circumtances starting from their poverty, then official apathy to their cause, lack of infrastructure, corruption, highandedness, and more. in 20 yrs china has become numero uno in gold medals. what is kalmadi's grand dream of harvesting gold for india? all that money, grant, travel to IOC meetings in exotic locations, and the groupies too...

Sportpersons need more respect.
by Mak on Sep 05, 2008 03:38 PM

Sportpersons need more respect and officials a boot if they behave like this. We need major revamp in the system and people with passion for sports should be at the helm. Politicians like him will only create havocs.

Mr. Mahesh Vijapurkar, kudos to you that you've raise the issue and sent an open letter to Mr. Suresh Kalmadi.

Its disgraceful to have IOA President like him.

Why are you surprised
by kalyan chatrathi on Sep 05, 2008 02:57 PM

I am surprised that you didn't know about how unprofessional and unethical Suresh Kalmadi is, till today.

I found it on the day Abhinav Bindra won the gold medal for India. I was tuned to AIR FM and here was Suresh Kalmadi who had the guts to attribute the gold medal of Bindra to THE ENCOURAGEMENT THAT SONIA GANDHI GAVE TO THE ATHLETES BY WAVING FROM THE OFFICAL BOX DURING OPENING CEREMONY.

Shame on you, Mr. Kalmadi for brining politics and your tendency of being Sonia Gandhi's puppy. Did Sonia Gandhi throw a dog-bone after you made that comment? Did that make you happy?

If there was an atom of decency in Suresh Kalmadi, he should just resign from IOA presidency. But since he has got none, he will continue unashamed of any of his actions. A MORAL-LESS AND UNETHICAL POLITICIAN, he will remain eternally.

Hi Vijapurkar,

It was framed superbly and well said. You gave the insight of our Sport Authority. The person you have mentioned is heading the Sports Authority for years and probably till he dies but nothing to the mark.He is filling his pocket and going abroad in the name of official trips in business class.Better publish this article in a national magazine.Hope people can know about the reality.Hats of to you once again.keep on writing.

This is not on, Mr. Suresh kalmadi
by Pradeep Jauhar on Sep 05, 2008 02:49 PM

I have read various accounts given by Abhinav Bindra on the pitiable contribution by the IOA officials towards giving boost to athletes. The lament is correct; in case the IOA and all others who contribute to growth of sports from the Govt. side and their affiliated do not put aside their egos and sincerely contribute towards seeing to the need of prospective athletes who have the will to succeed, we will continue where we are in terms of being lowly winners in all types of sports.I think this matter has to be looked at with all humility by Govt. sponsered associations for growth of sports, otherwise we can forget about winning medals even in the Commonwealth Games, leave apart the Olymics!!!

Fantastic article !!!!
by Great Khali on Sep 05, 2008 02:48 PM

Indeed a superb open letter to the IOA chief. It's humiliating to read the account. I guess we'll never break the shackles of bureaucratic tentacles that grip every aspect of national life and chievement. Whenever an individual does the country proud, it's the officials and babus who hijack the spotlight. They sit on committees, decide and approve funds for each sport, release very little, and use the rest to enjoy such expensive jaunts to tournaments and events where they have little business.

I guess the rest 65% of the money approved for boxing camp was used by the officials who travelled to Beijing, stayed in the best hotels, toured the country, and flew back in Business Class. Simple arithmetic Mr. Mahesh Vijapurkar. And if you add all up, you get the number of medals that India has won in all of Olympic history.

I second your view. Go to the Live TV News channels. Then they will grill Kalmadi and his lomdis on prime time television.
