Liverpool won Premier League 18 times already whereas Man U only 17.

Liverpool won Champions League for 5 times already with another 2 runner ups whereas Man U only 3 with no runner up position

Now tell Who is the best !!

and where Real Madrid and AC Milan would come then!! As far as I know, AC Milan got into the finals of Champions league at least 4 times since 2000. The fact is that English clubs were never a formidable force in Europe except Liverpool in the 80s. Look at Man Utd. They lost to West Ham because of a goal in the injury time. They couldn't hang on for a few seconds against west ham and now they call themselves kings of Europe! English Football is like indian cricket. The hype is always there.

I am also a cricket fan but a bigger football fan. Football for me is just addiction no sport can match the passion of football.

When the football world cup is on, most of the world stops to watch. From brazil to africa, china, iran, saudi arabia, japan, to europe. Can any other sport do this to the world????

someone mentioned that football is boring, well my answer to him is stick to a miniority cricket which has no impact around the world.

Football is THE world sport....no other sport comes close....

Just because Football is sooo widely watched doesnt make it more interesting than Cricket I mean T20 Cricket. Theres soooo much to Cricket fours sixes, run outs, change of pace, changing the field placements according to the batsmens strengths and weaknesses, the Duckworth-Lewis factor where a team needs to achieve a certain target at the end of a particular over if in case the rain comes down etc. etc. Take for eg. yesterdays match where Punjab won in the last 3 seconds of a 3 hour game!!! Isnt that a sport worth watching? Dint you see how the game was wildely swinging from one side to another? What more can you say when the media in England covered more of Ashes Test series than Football coz of the closeness of the battle inspite of it being a test match!!! By the way I hate test matches am an ardent T20 fan. Well I can keep on writing but rediff has limit on the character count...in short 20-20 Cricket is a better sport than Football any day

I live in the UK. Ashes series was a one-off, still compare this to a football tournament ie. world cup or euro championships you have to live in the UK to understand the hype and media coverage.

Crickets media coverage in the UK is not even 1% compared to football. England is a football mad nation, please dont tell me how much coverage is given to football and cricket in the UK. I live here and know about it.

The truth is in europe cricket is not even a considered a sport. Outside england cricket in europe is almost non-existent!

Dude, you are stressing on the craze of Europeans and other nations for football. What I am trying to convince you is that a cricket match especially a close one provides more entertainment, thrill, tension, suspense than football. Neverthless Football World Cup is a totally different thing altogether even I watch it:)

Mate, it seems, you believe that the most watched sport is the best! But let me remind you that any sport with stiff competition becomes very interesting! Not like this champ league final where Ronaldo and Terry missed penalties and made the game more dramatic than competitive football. This is one of the worst final I have seen in ages in champions league final. If you like Football, just enjoy it. Don'y try to fool others that it is the best game! If it is good, it is only because the players got so much competitive, but, again, this final? Yuck!!

Mr Ram, please come out of your narrow world and see what the whole world is doing. You just keep watching T20 and get satisfaction out of it. Remember to develope economically we should also develope in sports. It is a shame that our country don't even win a gold in olympics. It is really funny that a country of i billion go without a gold. It is time to introspect why we are falling behind. May be because of some morons like you who feel achieving in the game of cricket, is the ultimate achievement. The game which is hardly watched in 8 countries can no way be compared with a game which is played and watched all over the world.

Mr. Pradeep, please get rid of your narrow mind. Just because I am indian and criticizing Football does not mean that I am a cricket fan! As far as I am concerned there is nothing like a great sport unless it is played competitively. Yes, the competition in football is very big and hence we see some exciting games. Talk about the topic on hand and don't indulge in personal critcisms. If I know you, I may prove that you are not a moron but a donkey..

drogba shot hits the upright....
Lampard shot hits the crossbar....
terry slips while taking the decisive penalty...
drogba gets red card for absolutely non-footballing reasons and therefore is not there for the penalties.....

The fact is that Chelsea were just not meant to win yesterday. The all important 12th man called LUCK was as usual playin for Man Utd.

Man Utd also had missed chances....but the difference being that it was Chelsea's defensive brilliance of Petr Cech & John Terry that prevented the goals. Man utd did nothing but watch the woodwork save their day!!!!

Infact even during the penalties, Van Der Sar was horrible untill that Anelka Stroke. He kept diving the wrong way for most of the penalties and never came close to stopping one. Petr Cech looked the more likely of saving a penalty...

The fact is life is unfair sometimes....that why they say "Life's a Bitch"...
What Chelsea have to remember is that "Everydog has its day" - yday was man u's and theirs will surely come, hopefully against Man utd.
Man utd are a decent outfit but they are one of the luckiest sides. They are always lucky with refereeing, injuries, goals, tackles and yes Champions league titles. Their 1999 triumph via a 95th minute Solskjaer goal was a "LUCKY STRIKE" and now this one....

Man utd fans especially of Indian origin keep jumpin around whnever they scrape through like this. I wonder where those ppl are who said Man utd wins 2-1 or 3-1.Fact is they nvr do
that!!

For every mention of your 'chelsea bad luck', one can think of a united bad luck moment.

Life may be a bitch and every dog may have its day... but the point remains that the winner is the king, while the loser disappears into oblivion.

As in all cases, the law of averages works in refereeing and injuries. As does the principle of regression to the mean.

Wonder who else plays attacking soccer? Arsenal? Chelsea? hahaha! Liverpool yes, i can agree.

first of all we are talkin about champions league and not EPL....
If you understand what I mean then just look at the semi-finals when they played boring defensive football against Barcelona and held on to the solitary goal by Scholes (which itself was scored from 25 metres!!!)....

In Europe they play over cautiously whenever they play away from home....mostly 0-0 draws or 1-0 wins through counters....

As far as EPL goal difference goes, I think they handed out 7-0 drubbings to a couple of low lying teams (dont remember which ones) which really gave their GD a big boost. But when it comes to the big matches they never have margins of more than one goal - i.e they scrape through.
Even Their 4-1 win against Arsenal in the FA cup came against a virtual Arsenal youth side!!!

and wat about scorecards at Stamford Bridge and Anfield dude!!!! Everyones a lion at home...
Dont forget Chelsea & Arsenal are also unbeatable at SB & Emirates respectively...

And god bless you if find boring defensive football entertaining....yes no wonder they remain undefeated dude cause they play "not to loose"

Want entertainment then just watch any of the matches of Arsenal in the past few seasons and you will know what "Entertainment" actually means. Just try and keep a balanced head while watching though...coz most man utd fans are not fans they are fanatics who just dont accept hard truths!!!!
And if silverware is the only criterion to rate football teams then clubs from countries like Germany,Netherlands & France - all great footballing nations should simply stop playin right!!!! What nonsense man...agreed man utd have won trophies but that does not take away the ills of their defensive european approach... Why are they alwys so afraid of loosing????

and talking of "boring"...of man man ...cant take this from a chelsea fan....everybody knows who plays the most boring, physical game on planet earth....u know the reason y morinho was kicked out? and god bless chelsea if they play like this...i am sure abrahamovich will look for another club to buy......n afraid of loosing? i wud say champions hate to loose...ask tiger woods, ask shumacher, ask fedex...u will get the answer

and Kaushik one more thing....Fedex does not play defensively against Nadal...Schumacher never slowed down after overtaking Hakkinen or Hill or Raikkonen...
Why do man u go for 0-0 draws when they play away from home?? The real champions dont leave their attacking instincts depending on opponents and occassions....
More importantly Luck does not play such a major role when it comes to sure shot champions...

Interest among school kids and college crowd all over India is high coz of epl and champions league..with a month to go for euro 2008 i think academys should have some programs to target young ppl....

btw laliga might be tech superior to epl but as a viewer epl is more exciting...its same as horse derby (laliga) and formula 1 (epl)
