hockey
by raman govindan on Apr 01, 2008 07:09 PM

most of the sports were patronised equally earlier. sthe cricket has taken the most preferred sport of late. and it is nothing srprising that hockey and other sports has less following and the lowering of the standards.

Revival of Hockey
by HariOm Chawla on Mar 12, 2008 05:53 PM

Instead of making all cricketers crorepaties, BCCI's surplus money should be spent on giving incentives to hockey players. No public money should be given to any cricketer. Following 20-20 win, all state governments were in race to bestow benefits of criketers while they ignored the winning Hockey team then. All this lack of encouragement has resulted in debackle for hockey. Besides removal of the chief, all present associations should be dissolved and a new set up brought in. Successful ex-hockey players should be brought back as coach etc. to assist in revival of the team.

India mein sports ko culture mein lane mein 200 X 10^10 years lagenge.
kuon ki yahan kaha jata hai " PADOGE LIKHOGE BANOGE NAVAB AUR KHELOGE KUDOGE TO HOGE KHARAB"

Chuck de yeh Coach ko ...
by Phaltu Uloo on Mar 11, 2008 07:36 PM

Sob! Sob Sob! Aieeeeeeeee! Sob! Sob! ...
My Dadaji's agitated ashes will be simmering in the turbulent Ganga! You see, he - viz. Hooshaar Ulloo - was the captain of the first victorious
Indian hockey team that played in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. I remember watching on my brand new color Plasma TV when he recieved Cup from Hitler!
In fact, he told me later Hitlerjee asked him,"Badaa Phaltu, how is you grand-son Phaltu Ulloo? - Give him my best wishes!"
Sob! Sob Sob! Aieeeeeeeee! Sob! Sob! Aieeeeeeeee! ...
And today ....
India failed to make it to the Olympics for the
first time since their debut in 1928!
Dadoo, come back..The team needs you
Sob! Sob Sob! Aieeeeeeeee! Sob! Sob!
But he's long gone and now drifting in the Ganga.
And who is coaching India team ?
Arree Bhai, koi Shah Rukh Khan!!!
Chak de India, woh kehta hai!
Aree Shah Rukh bhai, this is hockey-when the ball goes over the line, don't excitedly jump up and repeatedly pump the air with clenched fists!
Its not a Four! This not 20-20 CRICKET, mere Bhai!
(Areee! Dadoo, kaun lay aaya aisa Coach???)
Aree mere Shah Rukh bhai, teach to dribble, pass and shoot! Striking circle se goal marna sikhao! No masti-majaa, mere bhai!
Aieeeeeeeee! Aieeeeeeeee! Dadooji, wapas aao, aapki jaroorat hai!
Dekho woh Shah Rukh-Farook ke coaching ke baad, India team not going Beijing!
India team not getting chance for eating original Manchurian-Szechuan.
Dadoooooooooooooo... aaja laut aao!
Eh!

by Arv Singh on Mar 11, 2008 06:35 PM

KPS Gill and Jootikumara should be kicked out of IHF. Bring the new management and groom the youngsters. The only way to go!

HOCKEY
by tarun gandher on Mar 11, 2008 02:10 PM

In recent years the grace of indian hockey has gone down. i have gone through many messages but no one has given exact reason. in my views following could be the reasons.
1. unjustice to hockey players:
today more number of boys are going for cricket not to play but for money.
2. lack of motivation:
no motivation is there for hockey players.
3. poor management:
no one at IHF is taking hockey seriously they are busy in their dirty politics not even thinking of hockey.
4. lack of proper coaching:
duty of coach is not to make them learn but to polish their skills. no body is doing this. coac does not know the stretagy of opponents, he doesn't know to counter the stretagy of opposite team.
politics:
main cause of runing sport and sport star.

it is not time to blame each other, sit seriously to find out what went wrong and how things can be turned up.

Blame YOURSELVES!!!
by Ahsan on Mar 11, 2008 11:44 AM  | Hide replies

Cmon guys...this is not fair. What if the hockey team even won the OLYMIC GOLD??? You think they will be famous in India??? DAMN NO WAY!
This country cannot prosper in any other sport other than CRICKET..that too very rarely.Talk about many great people in other sports...football,tennis,shooting,atheletics. People in India dont want to come out of their cricket dreams.Just think how much talent in all other sports will surface if they start paying other sport stars(like Baichung,Pillai and others) the way they pay cricketers!!!
India is full of talent in all fields and all sports....we only need to tap it properly. In my opinion,we've wasted a lot on cricket...time to stand up for other sports also. And for Mr.SRK..I wish you could pay so much for a hockey team for which you have faked in Chak De!

It is not too long when people used to hold same opinions about tennis and golf too.
But these sports got a turn around in last 3-4 years . Hockey could not take off due to obvious reasons. I feel you cannot single out cricket when you find tennis stars of India getting almost an iconic status be it a male or a female tennis player. Recently son of a gardener won a booty in golf too.
