-US inflation is NOT 6%, but 36% more likely. -Bush does NOT create 120K jobs a month. He loses 250-300K jobs every single month since Jan this year. -Jet fuel can NOT melt steel/iron for that would not work, would it? Engines would melt if that was the case. Jet fuel burns some 1200 degrees less than it's required to marginalise building alloy. -US has not lost 3500 soldiers but 300-350K, out of which 120-160 are dead and the rest disabled. -US pours near 2T into Iraq/yr now. -US pours 18B every single day into its broke banking system today. -US has attacked 68 nations since WWII murdering 25-30M civilians around the planet. -US under Bush has attacked 7 nations murdering 2M while maiming 4M. -US GDP is not -,2, it's far less. US median pay today is 50K/yr USD.

Dude u are talking rubbish...agreed jet fuel cannot melt iron and steel......but there is a catch to it......when it burns during flying it is controlled firing by injection........so very limited heat is geenrated unlike an uncontrolled explosion where immense heat is generate which can melt something better than iron or steel......
If Anil Ambani had won the deal with the South African mobile firm which was blocked by his own brother, then one can applaud him. But not this one. One should strategically develop business within a business, not outside of it like going to take movies, own football teams, building the biggest houses etc. Truly unimpressive.

do you guys even know what kind of a profit a leading football team can make in EPL??? This is very much a business decision, more like a takeover... If one is ready to pump in money for buying some top players then a team like Newcastle can bring in a lot of profit over the coming years!

I can understand that this brings potential money. But how is it strategically integrated? How does it benefits the shareholders who are already annoyed by the fights between the brothers at least once in a foolmoon?

Abbey dhakkan - you will teach Anil Ambani how to do business ? How is it strategically integrated - friigin moron - if you had the brains to figure out how it makes sense to him, you would be Anil Ambani - not some dopehead jargon spewing CK Prahlad clone. Btw I hope you know that after all the gyaaan that Prahlad gave, his own maiden venture had to be sold to salvage his pride and cut his losses.
There are people like you who talk and debate and then there are wealth creators like Anil Ambani who diversify into unchartered territory and leave behind their footprints for circus clowns and analysts to analyse.

May be, but it shows Anil's craving for global fame and flamboyance than the business as such. In business, you invest on a systematic process. But in football, you invest on fans. It like a horse race jackpot. Does this diversification of business come from Newcastle to Noida through a football matched played by a team in which none of them will be Indians? Speaking in lay-man terms, Mukesh is building the costliest house in the world and Anil is buying a football team like Thailand's president. That's all. Can he add it in his company annual report that this is a new portfolio in his business???

When he does not figure in the top industrialists paying taxes , from where does he get all the money . Does Amar Singhs friendship ensures that tax officials do not catch or probe anils assets sp after the trust vote. Cant he spend some money on the farmers - suicide in Mumbai rather than buying a EPL team. Shame.

Well everybody knows about Anil's Amar prem..... But as far as TAX is concern...There are some rules...and no friendship can let you evade taxes on declared wealth... Whether those rules are good or bad ...I'm not qualified enough....but using those rules to create wealth is not an easy art...and they (both brothers) are master of that art.
Such acquisitions only attribute to capitalistic culture. Especially the Ambanis, so call business giants in India are setting a wrong precedent by fighting with themselves, intruding into movie business and now football. Just do something to attract the crowds....thats all! Isn't it?
Why cant Mr Anil Ambani pump 260 million pounds into Indian football and take it to greater heights. If he does that he will be a true Indian. But evidently he is not , Just another cut throat businessman. Shame on you Anil! People and children are starving and you want to invest in a foreign clun. I sincerely hope it is not the Indian PF money.

Money gets available when there is feasibility to create value. You can not feed a 220 volt circuit directly from an 11KV line. It would simply burn the circuit.
To be able to absorb big money in our sports, lot of prepartory work needs to be done, by those who currently run the clubs. There would be a distinct change in organisational setup, considerable loss of direction and control and qualitative change in relationships between the club members, and between club and the players; and also spectator perceptions. To skilfuly manage these changes is anything but easy.
It would surely be feasible to evolve business models which can generate income and profits and benefit sports. This ofcourse needs endorsing market economy and accepting business need directives with proper spirit and not see it as morally corrupting or equate it with loss of sporting values.
The business organisation skills would be lot more complex, and would need years of learning. Such paradigm changes need to be initiated.
The New Castle United is still in talk phase, not a done deal; whereas intents we express here are mere whispers in still air.

The more Indians get hold of international sports teams.. more is the exposure of indian sport and eventually it will catch up ..he's a businessman after all ...Who'l be an idiot and spend 2 lacs over dharavi XI..they wont be even worth 2 rupees

He has made money out of Indians and hence he should spend the money on India???? U mean that if you sell a car to a customer then you have a obligation to spend that money on that customer and not as you please ???? Indians didnt give Reliance money for free. They had to earn it and its their perogative to spend it as they see fit....

Your insolence makes you run down 'bania' ethos. Suggest you read about GD Birla to understand what it means to be a 'bania'. Also, read about MahaRana Pratap and Bhamashah.
To create anything of value is not easy, be it art forms or wealth. To fathom the value creation and discern value needs quality perception, which takes years of consistent effort to develop.

Before we ask what Mr.Ambani has done for India we should rather look inwards and ask what have "we" done for India. Why cant we also donate. If all of us (300 Million Middle Class) could donate RS 100 every month towards the poor in India that means that the poor will receive RS 3000 Crores every single month( US $ 700 Million). That is enough to remove poverty. Have we thought about this? Are we ready to set aside a meagre amount like RS 100/month. NO. So lets practice before we preach.
RE:RE:shame

Donny , maybe you have not done anything to help the needy n u beleive that all ppl around u are the same. Agreed that collectively we can mk a differnce, but since he is already so rich, Anil cd hv created a differnce n touched so many lives had he thought of the poor n needy .

Hello Donny, people would willingly donate the money as you say, but to whom? is there any such leader who wont get tempted with such a rainfall of money on his sholder and pocket most? the discussion is on Ambani, wish he had invested atleast a part of that money in makingh Indian soccer shine internationally
RE:shame
by Aditya on Aug 03, 2008 11:19 PM
He isnt donating money to Newcastle... as a business man he will look to make money out of that club.. .its like any indian company acquiring a foreing company for profit.. in the long run.
