STOP THE TORCH OF TIBETAN SLAVERY
by albert fernandes on Apr 08, 2008 09:01 AM

Indians anywhere near the planned route of the torch should come out in full force to stop it. Those who live far away should support the cause for a "FREE TIBET"

Lets see how many HINDUTVA people turn up to protest the torch or will they again prove their cowardice
by sajansajan on Apr 08, 2008 08:03 AM  | Hide replies

I was at the London protest. The crowd was so huge a police force of 2000 could not control them. The protest was a huge success with several thousand turning out and disrupting the journey of the torch in a big way. People had come from as far off as Norway, Sweden and Greece.

For past few days there have been tonnes of message on Rediff from the brave Hindutva spokespersons calling all kind of names to non-BJP people and condemning China and all that.

Let us see how many of these BRAVE HINDUTVAVADIS turn up at New Delhi protest to lend a hand to the Buddhist cause against the Chinese communists.

I have a feeling that most HINDUTVA supporters here are paper tigers and will flinch when it comes to taking real action. They can only log messages but when it comes to facing the heat and police batons they are cowards. Lets see if I am proved wrong.

I wish I am proved wrong.

really?? and your al-quaida, SIMI, Hijbuls are the real tigers - right?? Also it's funny to note that you have put all the responsibility of protest on the Hindutwavadis. What do your Islamvadis say??

I may be accused of being pro chinese but no qualms about it as I would like to ask a few questions to this gentleman protester.I am not a Hindutvavadi. What makes you protest when Dalai Lama himself has said that he is not demanding independence.Secondly where were these so protesters all these years?Where did you get the courage now?just because a soft target is available? Why were these protesters
mum all these years? Why should India try to destabilise a friendly country when we accuse every country in the neighbourhood of disintegrating the nation?Where were our human rights activists when violations were reported in different parts of India?Let us not be hypocrites and show bravery on such targets. If anyone is angered by chinese communism, let be known that it is none of our business as Indians.

valid points, all. Except, it is dubious how peaceful China really is, developments on border are scary.

The Olympic Torch is a soft target. Agreed. I also agree that it is no sign of bravery to disrupt the passage. However, the symbolism should not be forgotten here. The numbers and the variety will be a reality check to both India and the world as to what the real India feels about what is happening in Tibet. The government too can understand if it has the backing of its people or whether it is merely taking a convenient stand. Hence I sincerely feel that all of us who genuinely believe that what is happening in Tibet is wrong (and only those who do), should make it a point to join the protests as long as it is peaceful.

Why I specifically mention HINDUTVA forces is becoz they keep talking about the cowardice of Congress and about the inhuman acts of communists and Islamists. Well here is something humane and it deserves Hindu contribution. Remember China supports Pakistan on Kashmir and has even vetoed twice in its favor in UN security council on Kashmir resolution/terrorism. It also claims most of North East.

Now is the time to show them that Indian blood is HOT too

The least India needs is the sermons from the NRIs who have deserted their own mother land. We have seen the patriotism of the NRIs during the Balance of Payment crisis in the early 1990s. They were the first to withdraw their deposits from India like rats deserting sinking ships. Gold from the Valuts of RBI in Mumbai was physically moved to London to tide over the crisis. Mr. sajansajan it would be a great srvice to our nations if the NRIs desist from dividing us in the name of religions.
