Sania Mirza is a terrific ambassador of Indina sport! In times where India is really not doing too well in this arena (with the exception of Vishy Anand), Sania is ranked 42nd in the World! A great achievement in itself, any reaonable person would agree!
Yes it would be much better if she was ranked 1st, of course... that is a no-brainer. But she is 42nd! Only 41 of her peers are better than her in the whole world! That is quite an achievement! Not many of us can say that about ourselves! Can we?
Sania is an articulate, attractive and promising kid, who does pretty darn good at her profession! Kudos to her for that!
Personally, I don't believe she will ever crack the top-20, but should that be held against her? I should hope not! We all have to recognize that she is out there, under the harsh glare of ridiculous public scrutiny, doing the best she can, representing herself and her country with charisma, grace, enthusiasm and intensity. Let's celebrate this kid, no other Indian woman has ever been ranked as high as her in the history of womens tennis. She should be considered a role model (many do already) to young girls in India. She can teach them to dream to be better than her at whatever they chose to do.
Sania is doing a terrific job of making this Indian proud!
I hope people are less petty when they make disparaging comments about her!
