It was Sania's tough luck that at the French open she had to face Ana Ivanovic and she lost 6-1, 6-4. Let us not forget that even Maria Sharapova was knocked out 6-1, 6-2 by the same Ana Ivanovic in the semi finals. I am not trying to give any excuse for Sania's loss in second round but let us look at results in proper perspective.

Mr AB Sania has at least made it to the top 50 ranking on the WTA circuit. But what about Indian male players ? Is there even a single Indian male tennis player in the top 100 ATP rankings ? Dont you think you should be more worried about that instead of criticising Sania ? Men are so pathetic. First they should set their own house in order.

Dear Sunita,

I completely agree with you. Men have a lot less to show for themselves in this country than women, and not just in sports...

But was my post on that? I did mention male sports "icons" as well...The point being how long do we continue to support non-performers, male or female, and ignore other disciplines.

As someone pointed out, the glamour and looks get all the sponsorships. There are Asiad Gold medallist boxers, talented weightlifters, hockey players and others who are strving and selling medals for the lack of funds.

My point, humbly, is only that. Must we waste money, energy and emotions on no good cricketers (the male ones, definitely), tennis players and other glamour idols forever?

Sunita here we r not talking abt male or female. We r talking abt India.Yaa sania made us proud by making the rank within 50.But all we know she is very talented players, even other good players give her certificate. But dont u think she is lazy.why dont she trained herself in US(like other big players) to increase her medical fitness. She has earned enough money.Another thing evry good player have a prof. coach(except federer now). But sania hasnot. If she doesnot spend her money in improving in tennis why should we concentrate only her tennis and cricket.Companies should not sponsor her but other sports where we can be world champions We should concentrate other sports where they can make us proud and we will be world champions there and Sunita BTW this is irrespective of female and male players.
