Please DONT give so importance for such a small victory. You, media, is using such words that 'Storm into', 'carved out' for such silly victories. Let her play well and win any of these tournament.

Ajith

Any remote idea how anybody can enter this tournament ? Do you think it is just walk in tournament ? You call it small victory ? Sad part in our country, you expect a player to win everytime....

Sadiq,

Every time? Are you serious? Take your head out of your butt - she has not won a tournament of any repute since Feb 2005! And has been playing, and losing, and making money nonetheless!

Losers like you support the wrong icons, and belittle true champions, who do not focus on eye-liners and matching clothes, but on their game...

You are a fool. So don't talk of sad part in "our" country - in any country non-performers like Sania would be forgotten without victories...maybe not in you fantasy, though...

She has not any tournament of late does not mean she can not keep trying......How many gold medals our country has won in Olyampics then why we send players for every Olyampics according to you we should not send as we can not WIN.....
I am sure you never been sports person in your life....Hard these things do not go in to your HEAD....Rather you do very good job...sit and criticise.....

I agree with you. We should not send teams to "OlyAmpics" (whatever that is), till we find winners who can at least go beyond the base rounds.

I am sure you are a sports champ, with enormous experience. Maybe if you take your head out of Sania's skirt, you will see reality.

Your brain died long ago, only the mouth remains. Understand that I have no problems with Sania, but with morons like YOU! YOU make India believe that winning is not everything (which it is). YOU make India believe that being a loser is ok...

YOU fools make sure that we do not produce champions as we are happy with mediocrity.

Hi sadiq,
Dont compare Sania with other players(which we send in olympics).See companies not sponsor them but sponsor Sania. She earn more, even greater than many cricket players. But tell me how many matches Sania have won? She had won only 1 tournament and thats in a tournamenet where no big player came.We dont want to Sania to win a grandslam(bcoz she cant win that). But atleast she have to reach 4th rd or quarterfinal.See Viswanathan Anand,Anju Bobby are good players. But tell how many sponsors they have achieved. So this is the saddest part of India where companies invest on a player where she cant win more than 2 matches in a tournamenet(like cricket) but we dont concentrate other games where India can be world champions. She Sania has no coach and even she doesnot trained in US(where almost all the tennis players trained) to increase her fitness(which see lacking miserably). So Sadiq admit the fact that she cant win matches and forget abt the tennis of her.Just admire her beauty.

Lets all CELEBRATE!
by A B on Jun 12, 2007 12:44 PM  | Hide replies

Wow! She has won A match! Wowwwww!!!!!!!

Lets call a national holiday tomorrow. Lets make nosepins mandatory in schools. Lets all party and die drunk...

Amazing how in India we can make a sub-mediocre non-performer a national symbol of pride and create hype around her, so that she loses her senses, and better and more deserving candidates lose out...

1.3 Billion people and not a single champion (except V.Anand and a smattering of snooker/billiards players). Truly a country of glorious losers.

Isn't it time to really focus on issues where we can do well in? Sports, unfortunately, in spite of the amount of time and money we spend in cricket, is not something we are good at. In any arena.

Lets dump these flashes in the pan, popular only in ads and tabloids for length of skirt, and create winners by investing in other sports.

We are 165th in the FIFA soccer rankings. N.Karthikeyan wins headlines without ever coming close to the podium. Sania...the less said the better. Cricket...yawn!

Yet, there are starving atheletes, hockey players, boxers, weightlifters who regularly do well. Nobody - no rediff, no paper, no corporate sponsors..............

Why must we be fooled by media and worship these false gods who, in a more competetitive country, would not even get a chance to participate???

How long will this blindness continue?

Hey Sadiq, the "educated" champ!

Your illogical and unqualified support for the "little girl" speaks volumes on where your eyes really are!

Sports is played on the field, but won with sincerity, attitude, focus and work ethic. Talent is no good if you don't put it to use. She is a classsic case of talent who is focussing on other things than her sport, and her results show...

So keep supporting her (obviously since you know soooooo much about sports), as she continues to fail.

What you do not understand, being a horny fool, is that you are actually making her game suffer, by not being honest with constructive criticism. That will help, when people tell the truth and help her change and focus on playing and not on fashion shows. That will help, much more that all the drool you spill out every time you see her...

AB you uneducated lowlife garbage, just keep ur trap shut.

Do you even know what's going on the WTA tour?

Sania is not going to jumpstart into the tour despite her talent because the sporting expertise available in india is deficient and inadequate to make champions.

Even champions like federer and graf struggled to put it together despite coming from advanced countries.

Humans need time to grow up.

Its only two years since she particpated in the tour regularly.

Federer needed five years of active tour status to reach no1 ,not to menion humiliating defeats to Hewitt, ferrero,Nalbandian,Agassi all of whom he is thrashing nowadays.

And you have ignorant idiots here who want performance overnight.

Completely agree, my friend....

The question is, how much time? How do you, since you have a clean non-garbage mind, define overnight?

And when there is a resource crunch, how long do you keep betting on a losing horse, and not ask questions?

The idea, my smart venom-spewing friend, is not to attack Sania. Hell no! We all sincerely want to celebrate her victories. But its turning out like to wait for Haley's comet, and for all the adoration that your groin, sorry heart, holds, the results are there to see.

Not for Sania alone - but for all those superstar underachievers we have to support because they are in our faces, and hence we ignore other talents in the country. Let us build on the efficiencies, and not focus on someone who does not have the attitude to win.

Like the other learned fan here, you have brought out very nice comparisons. I have a bit of an idea on the ATP and WTA tours, so, my foolish friend, here goes:

Federer won his first major title within 3 years of turning pro, in 2001. The same year he beat Sampras in Wimbledon, and although did not win, made his mark.

By the next year, he was already World no. 6. He won him first Wimbledon in 2003...and the story continues.

If Sania has a Federer in her, great! We will applaud the success, when it comes. But to pop the champagne every time she wins a GAME?

Maybe you should study the game a bit more and check out how many catwalks Federer has done so far...

Dear Sadiq...

It is fools like you who are losers in life and hence see reasons to celebrate in mediocrity...

Sure she is a "little girl" who needs support. Sure, that support comes from a mix of patriotism, her charm, and our hope against hope that she will someday win 2 matches in a row....

And support she gets! And the money, too, no doubt.

But nobody will mind that if the returns on the emotional investment people put in are there.

When a Tiger Woods, or a Nadal, or a Schumacher or a Lance Armstrong or an Australian cricket team wins competitions and the resulting money and adulation, nobody has a problem...after all - they work hard, lead disciplined lives, and the results.

Then there are promising "little girls" who idiots like you support because you have no other hero to worship, and do not have enough knowledge on other sports to channel your energy.

If Sania wins - great...but you dumbass - here is something for you to think of: 5 years of professional tennis, and 1 WTA title in Hyderabad to show for. Played some 160 pro matches, lost 70...compare that to other professionals in the game, and you know whether your "precious" support is justified.

Unlimited number of pronsites, fansites, photosites and ads which focus on everyhthing but her game. Morons like you with a big mouth to match a tiny brain who I am sure look at her physical attributes and not her game, find that to be reason enough to celebrate.

But, I repeat, true winners get lo
