All types of bulls are not used in Jallikattu.. Only specific breeds are used, which are wild in nature and cannot be tamed.. It has been pride to control these bulls that is practiced over 2000 years.. Also these bulls are used for mating cows in most villages.. These bulls are part of culture too.. No owner of these bulls will never harm them in any way, because if the bull dies, its inauspecious to the entire family..
Many stringent laws have been practised for 2000 years regarding jallikattu.. Every player risks his life while playing it..
Every bull is checked medically before and after jallikattu by team of Govt appointed specialists.. If proven that bulls were tortured, the event would be cancelled and the owner of the bull will be fined and banned from events...
Its not like spanish events where bulls are killed at the end..
Except rare incidents, bulls are treated with human nature, by spending thousands of rupees to protect and retain the pride of it.. Jallikattu is a few minutes event for that bull in a entire year, that brings fame to the owner...

If we ban it, the total pride of the breed is lost.. No one will tame these breeds, which will be extinct in few years.. These breeds cannot survive on its own and can cause danger to villagers..
These are rare type of breeds, that are specific to Tamilnadu alone..

Please go to villages in Tamilnadu and sit for days.. U will know the ground reality of bonding between bulls and humans..

If horses foxes camels and elephants can be trained to run races for races sake and entertain ,the bull can too..
Animals also have consciousness, they also learn from experience of others
And every cattle knows the Pongal time seasonally to expect special treatment from their human masters and friends..the forerunner of cricket kittipull, was dangerous...cricket has now become a religion....perhaps a stadium will come up for Jallikattu to protect untrained spectators

Neither Mr. Oswal nor Judges who gave away orders banning bull taming in Tamil Nadu have any idea about bulls! As far as Jallikattu is concerned, bulls are specially trained one, no ordinary bulls are exhibited in Jallikattu and they are unfit and unacceptable on the game arena. There are more than a dozen varities of rare bulls groomed according to their breeds especially for Jallikattu. According to classical Tamil literature Bull taming signifies vitality, vigour and manliness of a man controlling it. Bulls are part and parcel of Tamil tradition and culture unlike Diwali crackers and smearing of coloured powders during Holi festival in northern and western parts of India. Last but not least bulls are worshipped by the Farmers in Tamil Nadu and they love and shower affection and care similar to that of his children! Tamilians celebrate the festival as "Mattu Pongal." So when a festival is celebrated in the name of Cow

don't try degrade others culture. we can talk degrading manner about north indian festivals and culture.Boys utilise fetival holi to molest girls and they enjoy the same. In olden days tamils used to live with nature, from literature you know even women chased tigers with normal household items. Even in Gujarat Gir area girls know how to live along with lions and how to protect their cattle. You elite bastards and bitches sitting in cities think only you are intelligent can talk and write anything. Actually it is fight against elite class who dictate and decide everything and our court and laws also always support. common man succeeded this time, he also knows elite will try to take revenge fight back to maintain their dominance and they are more powerful. If our courts and laws continues to support elite blindly and discriminates others then one day there will be civil war and the country will break into pieces.

It seems you did not read the whole article carefully. Where and how cruelty happens to bulls, read that. No bulls can be and should be trained for the torture they are put through during the event. No farmer who treats his bull like a child would allow it to be tortured the way it has been clearly described in the article. There are photographs to prove it.

Sati System was even more Crue1 & Barbaric - Because the Widows were Burnt Alive on their Husband's Pyre !!!

I guess we don't need that type of a System any longer.

All we need to do is Stop Crue1ty upon animals.

You don't Know the History. Then there was much uproar in the society, but our foreign rulers were much tough. It is difficult to understand the inner meaning for ordinary persons.

Supreme Court of India should Abolish any such Festival - All over India - Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Assam or anywhere else. There should be Uniformity across India and there should be No Partiality or Favouritism to be shown to any State or Religion - If they Seriously mean Business !!

We cannot have Different Sets of Rules for Different people.

Keep dreaming ....No need for uniformity in india as far hindu festivals are concerned. India's unique beauty is in its diversity ....Better learn to adapt and absorb it ..

pl. study the subject in detail. The human-animal link/bond -in indian agrarian scenario is entirely different from the western commercial farming concept. Organizations without knowing this deeper roots are going overboard in opposing traditional practices. Life is always about struggles nd interdependancy . every living being on earth undergoes various troubles during its path of survival. that does not mean it shud not be born at all .. as such such cultural practices are already dwindling . let it not become extinct all together . Let it at least survive in minimal form with regulations. Great job by the protestors !
