Today,if the command area in Karnataka is over 2 million acres as against 300000 to 400000 acres whereas in Tamil Nadu the irrigation command area has come down to 1.3 million acres. From 1.7 to 1.8 million areas it is clear case of Karnataka doing(Kar in Hindi) natak in the belief that there is no downstream river and riparian states and their rights and the down stream staes are only to protect Karnataka at times of Floods so that Karnatak can let open the sluice gates to flood the downstream states.Cauvery is not for Karnata alone, it is for all the reiparian states. It is crazy to say when we have have shortage of water how can we give them ;Karnataka doesn’t give.River Cavery Flows from time immemorial not after karnataka came into being R.Ponnambalam
How can there be 3 crops for TN and no drinking water for Karnataka? TN also gets 2 monsoon rains and Karnataka 2 rains. Karnataka does not have 2 Million acres of irrigated Cauvery land.It is only about half of what TN has in the Cauvery area. From 1952, TN has illegally increased land cultivated and that too for 3 crops a year. That is the reason for the dispute. Water sharing should be according to supply, not demand
I am still wondering, this Cauvery issue has been going on from so many years. Why doesnt TN find any alternate solution for water instead of completely depending on Cauvery.

Like electricity, water is national commodity. Why does Karnatake depend on TamilNadu for electricity cannot be question? Sharing is what it is about, you cannot use TamilNadu as drainage only to release water to avoid flooding as said above. The riparaian state has greater rights over waters of the river, that is the law.
