Why doesn't TN create storage areas?
by shashi kadapa on Sep 12, 2016 05:40 PM  | Hide replies

TN can convert large areas of the downstream areas to catchment areas. This water will help other TN areas. But, the farmers do not want to give up their land, and come begging to Karnataka. What abt Mettur dam? Why doesn't the TN govt divert the water to the deficient areas.

Judges are not fools and advocates are not illiterate. Judgements only given after analysing all the parameters like ground situation, various departments reports, experts views etc.,. They are not supposed to pass verdict based on the rumours and political vendetta as said to you by somebody.

The river is not your father's property. It is a national resource, and I don't think anyone here is begging. It is people like you who are at the root of this problem. TN is not begging here. You and your ilk are looting.

Easy to solve this issue.
by Rajesh Chheda on Sep 12, 2016 05:30 PM  | Hide replies

Is rainfall deficient in these areas? NO.
Is rain water collected in small or big tanks. YES
Is it possible to increase Cauvery water storage by 50% or so in a short time? YES.
Can water be utilised more efficiently and wastages minimized? YES by 10 to 20%.
Then why is problem not being addressed? Politicians of all hues and colours do not want a situation where people are outside their mercy...bureaucratic thinking is worse still, they want complete command over lives of people worst than a dictator. There is no shortage of money to address this problem nor is there any technical difficulty to expand water storages. Yet Supreme Court has to intervene year after year because no politician or bureaucrat wants to be blamed for the mess that they create in first place to rule over lives of people. Farmers are part of problem because of entitlement mentality. Once shortages are sorted out, prosperity of region in both states will jump by leaps and bounds which no politician or bureaucrat wants.
