Childish

Obviously she has given false statements. We are trying to hide the facts by looking the other way, clutching at straws. Unless we are ready to face the facts, our actions will look immature. GOI should look at the issue from a legal angle and take steps to avoid compromising our national interests just because one privileged crossed her boundaries. Already all our neighbors are against us and more with China.

People like Devyani ruin country's image. Doesn't matter what position they are in...they always stick to their "samaj" roots

acclimatised corruption
by Lez Marc on Jan 11, 2014 12:43 PM  | Hide replies

Indians are so acclimatised to corruption that being even a little bit honest is a culture shock that they experience abroad. I have seen this first hand when I was abroad. Guys this is not an american vs an indian fight; this is an indian babu vs an indian worker fight in America. The US rightfully took the side of the hapless worker when Devyani & fly tried every crooked means, including using, i am said the indian secret services, to fix her servant. Even I boiled up when I first heard this case, later appreciated what US did to support this hapless servant.

Is this the way our foreign relations are run?
by Jagdish Dubey on Jan 11, 2014 12:29 PM

Pathetic is the only word to sum up this episode. It appears that just because our government is lax on this issue and allows diplomatic immunity whether asked for and deserved or not we expect USA to do the same and blow our fuse if thats not done even for an officer in consulate.
Reason why we have paid such a heavy price to terror amy such a laxity in the name of diplomatic immunity or what ever. By expecting USA also to be so lax we have made a fool of ourselves and destroyed what takes so much effort to build - goodwill with a country like USA.

Can she be tried now in India for Corruption
by Aam Aadmi on Jan 11, 2014 11:57 AM  | Hide replies

Now that she is in India, the Indian Govt. should try her in Indian courts for the corruption cases.

She holds a flat in Adarsh. That is enough to try her. Apart from that she owns large swathes of land and number of Flats in Maharashtra and Kerala. She could be booked for wealth beyond the known sources of Income.

She has maligned India in US that means globally we are certified as a Nation that supports the criminals & corrupts. The masses are harassed for smaller things but the Babus are protected by Netas & Netas by Babus but both together these thugs loot the Nation under the name of Governance.

Someone here raised issue of fishermen. Very rightly so. Why Indian Govt. stopped all other works just to ensure that this corrupt lady is not put behind bars in US. Whereas thousands of fishermen are imprisoned in Sri-Lanka, our Govt. has no time to find a solution to that.
One Merchant Navy captain was imprisoned in some African country, Govt. did nothing for a year. When this corrupt lady's issue came up and Govt. started putting its weight behind her and when everyone asked how Govt. works for selective people, then they woke up and brought him back.

The Babus & Netas should be thoroughly stoned by common people so that no one ever dares to harass common people.
