Most of these are of obstructing nature and may not be that serious though leaders must exercise control under such things too.

Need Clarification
by American Indian on Aug 29, 2014 01:14 AM  | Hide replies

Can someone clarify, when SC asked ministers with criminal record to be dropped, did it say the convicted ministers or even ones with an FIR against them? Convicted folks should loose MP/MLA/minister status automatically and those with FIR need to be considered innocent until proven guilty(Indian law).
The charges against the above ministers also look suspicious. I can understand unlawful assembly or obstruction charges(nearly all polliticians of all parties have participated in dharnas), but I cant imagine Maneka Gandhi voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery. Is she a gun totting Phoolan devi? When/how was an ex-army chief accused of rioting with deadly arms. He may know how to handle weapons better than other politicians but surely he did not participate in riots like 1984 or post babri demolition or post godhra? Even Pholan devi, Raja Bhaiya etc held constitutional posts but surely none of the ministers mentioned above fit the classic definition of criminal.

Charge sheeted fellas needs to be dropped. After FIR, police/CBI prepares charge sheet. its a stage between FIR and trial.

Ministesr with criminal charge
by Mohan Ranganathan on Aug 28, 2014 11:50 PM  | Hide replies

Supreme Court ruled that it was up to the prime minister to not induct those with criminal record into his Cabinet. What Modi can do. He himself has faced so many charges when he was the CM of Gujrat and he survived. But how many of the ministers can survive the ordeal.Any 0f the Modi cabinet found guilty of charges and inducted by court will definitely put Modi in the backfoot in front of the people,Modi and BJP can fool some but not all.

Interesting. But unfortunately, dealing with tainted MPs is a bit complicated. According to our laws, a person is innocent till proven guilty. A chargesheeted citizen can fight elections, become MP and thereafter a Minister, according to these laws. Now on moral grounds, if a minister is removed and subsequently found innocent, wouldn't PM be considered guilty of pre-judging the issue? In oreder to ensure this doesn't happen, Modi at least tried to get MPs cases fast tracked but unfortunately, SC didn't agree with this. So we are back to square one. Any solutions in sight?

No. It's a question of abundant caution. SC said that you cannot leave keys with someone doubtful.

In India's dummy democracy, YOU will be thrashed/thrown in jail when you take a bribe.
When Pankaj Singh takes bribes, YOUR Prime Minister will ASK him to return the bribe.

In America, Britain, France, Germany, Israel and several other countries too all of people who hold the highest offices including those of prime minister and president are accused in criminal cases and investigations that have no bases. We should look into Congress members and their allies who are charged with numerous criminal cases and allegations, many of which are very credible and well supported by evidences.

NoonRa, what cases you are talking about. Leading crowds against corruption, holding dharnas (obstruction) and disobeying orders from police are part of a politician's duty. A politician cannot shy away from his duty in he fear that he will be charge sheeted. At least these Ministers are not charged with corruption involving crores of rupees, or giving out countries wealth to selected people, or rape and murder. If somebody should be in jail that is our ex Prime Minister and his leader madam

Modi should also resign
by Hirendra Chatterjee on Aug 28, 2014 10:01 PM  | Hide replies

According to the SC decision, everyone in the Modi cabinet should be asked to resign including Modi himself. Remember, a case was filed against him at the instance of the Election Commission for committing the grave crime of displaying his party symbol after casting his vote? Everybody should resign so that the Royal Family and its goons can take over.

How many such complaints are there? against opposition congress members. They have looted the country. They popularized corruption. The stalwarts of congress members live like kings. After kings dynasty was buried after independence it is replaced by congress stalwarts. As kings were kings the congress also similarly excelent in booking cases against any political party and use that for political purpose like Mayavathi,Mulayam singh and many.So who has to resign can be as per election results.Congress need to improve and live in harmony with the ruling party to rejuvenate its lost trust by voters.
