I think the writer - a bureaucrat has got it all wrong. It is because of their ill fated thoughts and policies has the past Indian Governments taken all wrong steps. It is time that bureacrats like him are kept in place and not allowed to dictate Indian Foreign policies. Modi is right in taking tough stance against Pakistan which has played enough havoc in terms of "100 cuts" as per their doctrine of indirect war using Terrorists.
No previous Indian Governments had the guts to face Pakistan head on and keep them in their place.
Request Rediff not to have such articles written by self proclaimed intellectuals which give a totally wrong picture. We as Indian are strong enough economically and otherwise than our neighbours and it is time that India is not taken for granted by any nation.

Talking to Hurriyat pacifies fundamental elements in Pakistand and Kashimiris in India.
Pak PM hears from left ear and leaves from the right ear as he did always- ditto with the Indian PMs.
That was a mechanism both have devised to keep the fundamental elements not scuttle the talks and not to come under domestic pressure.
It is a safety valve both have devised and agreed.
That is why PV Narasimha Rao and Vajpayee too allowed it.
Now you made it difficult to Sharif and Pak Army will dictate the dialogue process which is known to everybody i.e. Pak Army doesnt want any peace with India. Its existence and importance lies in fighting against India.
It is the Pak Army who instigated Imran Khan and Qadri to hold protests against Sharif to weaken him.
That is why Pak Army place itself for controlling the crowds in Islamabad.
Can someone tell me , is it not the job of Police to control mobs? Why is Pak Army is taking the place belongs to Police?
The answer is clear; no bullet or lathi charge against Imran and Qadri's gangs.

Sorry dear, we are least interested in allowing Pakistan continue with its anti-India activities so that Pakistan remains happy and stable. Will you leave such a life that you want for India?
Why the author indicated about US disappointment when this is a problem between ourselves and Pak.We Indians want to allow such big brother attitude.It seems the author is bent upon supporting other countries.
It is a Congressman's article for sure. Have you given away Kashmir to Pakistan in you mind already Mr. Kumar? What state do you want to give to China?
The pakis firing across the border are wolves. They dnt give a damm abt the peace process. The government gave a strong message to not only pakistan bt also the whole world that Peace process and guns cant go hand in hand. Ppl come into our country and meet the seperatists. We defly arent supposed to welcome this gesture. Earlier Spineless government did it shamefully. I disagree with the author. We really dont care what the west thinks, what an indian thinks is of utmost priority. Afterall on gnd level we have to bear this cross firing nuisance of pakistan.
