Why are we talking dalit/backward after 65 years of independence, even Maya tells hereself dalit ki beti even after becoming CM, just to keep vote bank, Dalits are empowered to speak in hate Manuvadi, what is this game of politics, prejudiced voting pattern, of course, if someone talk people living below poverty line-understandable.
This hate mongering must go=by upper or dalits or anyone. People who are in BPL class must be uplifted.

Innovative concept perpetuated by Ashis Nandy
by Sanmay on Jan 29, 2013 02:44 PM  | Hide replies

The stream of corruption downpours from higher to lower level of society dominated by a larger section of Indian mass. The rampant corruption beyond imagination once possessed solely by powerful lobbies of higher classes was separated by impermeable pandora box and protect the lower stratum of the society from such act of national looting are now being easy access to all due to opening up of mighty box. So a kind of equilibrium in respect of corruption has been reached amongst all caste and creeds. So Professor Nandy is correct in his observation of corruption pattern in indian society and its consequential effects. Hats off.

Jaylalita an upper caste Hindu political leader was CM of TN she had 1000 pairs of lady shoes and sandles. When Mayawati, a Dalit became CM of UP she started collecting gold, diamonds and landed property in trillions for herself and her kinsmen. Then where is the need to bracket corruption in castes or even religion. The other OBC leader Late Karpoori Thakur has never ammassed wealth and he is still one of the most respected leaders of Bihar. Similarly Mamta Bannerjee an upper caste CM of WB still wears a cotton plain saree wort 150/- and Hawai Chappal worth Rs. 28/-. What I wish to point out is the wishes are horses for all types of people. You are required to keep the Lagam firmly in your hands so that it doesn't go astray. Otherwise only those are honest who are real Gandhians or those who are chanceless. However one thing is clear poor gets chance and he ammasses with both hands as well as both leggs. Rich uses only his both hands. This is the only difference. Hence hats off to both Mayawati and Mamta.

Ashis Nandy
by dinkar shetty on Jan 29, 2013 02:09 PM

All the time we are blaming politicians for various reasons. But we the public are realising now a days that politics is hiding in almost all media members. While 2G scam was in high pitch, Burqa Dutt name surfaced along with some more media members for having used their position to influence the officials/ministers/leaders to favour a certain person or persons/company.
In the case of Ashish Nandy also, media members were showing extra concern in favour of OBC/Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe by letting down their own literary counter part. Nandy was not condemning OBC/SC/ST being corrupt. He was narrating the position how in a society equalising factor is working. If one can read The Hindu, Visakhapatnam edition of 27.01.2013 will find an unbiased background on which the quote was made by Nandy. I partly heard what Nandy was saying and fully read the The Hindu write up on Nandy and convinced that he had not expressed any hate feeling against SC/ST/OBC.

Why Nandi was wrong.
by ashok paricha on Jan 29, 2013 02:00 PM

Mr. Nandi pointed out when backward caste,S.C.,S.T got the previlege they also did the same as others did and not tried to improve things for the deprived,See the leaders from that segment ,they outwitted others in amassing wealth through corrupt practice.Yes the timing was wrong ,but its a fact Nandi pointed out.
Who cares for people once they are in power.Caste, religion, minority is a vote bank issue for these politicians. And the amount one spends to get elected ,forces them to induldge in such practices to gulp the poison of power time and again.Corruption does not have a color, caste, creed,it is a crime loved by the whole political class and bureaucracy.

Dear NC,Pls improve your knowledge and update your information. Not all OBCs are opting for reservations and there is 'creamy layer in OBCs who are not entitled to reservation. Secondly, OBCs are the group of castes/sub castes from Brahmins, Kshatriyas and Vaishya varna and backward sections of Muslims and Sikhs. So social and economic criteria have been taken care of in Mandal commision, You may find many 'brahmins, Rajputs and Baniyas castes in the list of successful candidates of OBCs in any exam. Thirdly- why don't you be vocal against your category students who purchase degrees of engg and medicine and compete with us.Why you don't criticize your boss in your office when he hires an employee because of a 'reference'. When the so called Forward caste joins on the basis of ex employee quota or defense quota, why there is no self immolation. Anti- reservation is nothing but your decayed and perverted mindset against the people of OBC and SC/ST. What you have been getting earlier freebies; now you have to work hard for the same. Things are getting difficult for you and u r blaming 'emerging' sections of Indian society.Still your percentage in 'jobs' is much higher than what you deserve.OBCs waited for 50 years after 'independence' for 'justice' and realised of late that few castes are capturing most of the national resources thru' illegal means. Please check data who owns wealth in India.Because of wealth, you have changed your 'varna' like

...Gupta,Kayastha, Patels, Reddys -shudra by birth have become Upper caste in neo-Hindu system although 'upper castes' are Brahmin and Kshatriya' only in our veda and other epic.
thru' your ill-gotten wealth, you tried to alter our culture and history which belongs to mainly 'OBCs.

Reservation has nothing to do with Corruption, which comes from the politicians who steal in ten hands.
The point is that those who complain about discrimination of 1000 years, when they get power, do nothing to improve the lot of those who are being discriminated but just steal and steal.
In this case SC/ST/OBC are the worse, because at least the Upper Castes people study hard to get their positions, but SC/ST/OBC want to get money without working for it.

There was a survey in the India Today that in New Delhi alone, there are at least 1500 Brahmin toilet cleaners. Most Brahmins are very poor.

They are toilet cleaners not because they Brahmins but they are unfit to become anything else.
Send me a single name of Brahmin who is toilet cleaner. Even in 'Shulabh Shouchalya' run by a Brahmin- Dr B Pathak, cleaners are from Balmiki community; Brahmins are only cash collector.
People like you spread lies and lies and thriving on corruptions done by your forefathers.

Demand for promotion in Govt jobs has come from the SC/ST quarter as they feel they get discriminated during annual appraisals.
In my opinion, this is true. Even a peon of forward caste abuses his officer of SC/ST comm.,behind officer's back on caste line.
your tone suggests how much you are poisoned during your upbringing.
Upbringing of FCs is dangerous for their survival on Indian soil. The way they think OBC and SC/ST as their enemies, one day they have to leave this place just like Jews from Russia and Germany.
