Why Nadi may be correct
by RamRahim on Feb 02, 2013 07:20 PM  | Hide replies

The statutory protection/cover provided to SC/ST seems to be behind the higher than normal prevalence of corruption among SC/ST officials. The same holds true for dalit politicians who are corrupt. For instance, it is an open secret that during her tenure Mayawaty amassed huge assets through corrupt methods and BSP became one of the richest political parties in India, but no political heavy weight has the courage to call her corrupt. Just like any other law,(Section 498 of IPC) this satatute which provides safeguards to dalits and weaker sections has been misused by the corrupt and dishonest. We see in Govt. offices that many SC/ST candidates misuse the provision and wilfully derelict the duty. It is time that India started thinking about taming this unrestricted provison. This will only help improve efficiency in the government offices.

Agree with you.People are afraid to call the SC/ST corrupt for fear of being accused of being anti SC/ST and being hauled up.The leaders of this community have not set a good example and are not role models.Asish Nandy should not have blamed this community alone since the upper castes are equally corrupt since they were the ruling elite all these days.

Human greed is common to all communities and unless we have a transparent and effective systems all sections will continue to indulge in corruption.Society as a whole has degenerated and the govt has failed completely with the leaders setting an example of how to be corrupt.

Corruption is prevelent in the blood of indians
by Connan on Feb 01, 2013 12:08 AM

Corruption is prevalent in the blood of Indians it has got nothing to do with caste, the professor is a paid stooge of the neighboring country, using his position to drive a wedge among Indians.
