Sangeeta is no agent, just a crafty opportunist. Devyani Khobragade has been shamefully mistreated.

needs to take a chill pill. Enough has been said about this. The US is already the hq of spying in the world now. Even if richards was a spy, it s a weakness in your system to have let her slip thru. India has already flattened out all privileges US diplomats had in India. Now the ball is in US's court if they are really serious about keeping an ally or making another enemy.

The maid is having fun by fooling the dumb officials.
Preet Bharara should really be ashamed of his overqualified
degrees from Harvard and Columbia and making such a mess.
Too much bookish knowledge and ego had gone into his head.

Dude, you need to first find out why Devyani filed the false visa application, before writing fancy stories.

This man is the main culprit for raising a hue & cry over his lawless daughter's plight.
Some irresponsible ministers like Salman Khurshid are defending a petty delinquent called Devyani.

need to ask right questions first for meaningful answers

This episode has led to profound changes in the Indo-US diplomatic relationship. It would have removed the diplomatic immunity for many, perhaps most of the under-cover operatives, hence has had great impact on intelligence relationship as well.

The question whether the maid was a mole or not is irrelevant, what is necessary to know whether the maid became an instrument in information warfare, which is also a component of intelligence activity.

The nature of the intelligence game is that it shall always be competitive. But India also has, as reported, very significant cooperation and partnership relationship with US intelligence.

The rules of engagement need to be better defined and done on the basis which improves mutual trust and establishes fair play norms.

Evidently, US players have played a harsh game, and India has responded with a long overdue overhaul. The improvement in mutual respect, however grudging, hopefully would lead to up-gradation of ties, and not deterioration.

Believe it is feasible to make Indo-US relationship as the most critical one, instead of Indo-Russian one for India. But for this to happen, US intent has to be first defined that way, and the requirements of this clearly understood.

First, the freedom movement ethos which is the idea of India be understood and conformed to. The leadership of the free world stance which the defeated powers Germany, Japan and rescued powers UK, France and others accepted will never find India towing the line. India does not militate against this line, it opts for non-alignment. Third, the role conflicts in North-South dialogue appreciated and accepted. Indian cultural insistence on never letting down its friends, like Russia and Iran be understood as having deep consensus in its society.

Most of the conflicts, it seems arise due to confusion in these domains.

Indian Dhoom-3 like aisi ki taisi stance has in a short intense phase achieved course correction from Indian perspective and put the relationship on sound reciprocal basis. Thereby has created a proper legal basis for healthy partnership.

The course correction required from US is at its basic level a cultural one. If not poetry, perhaps poets themselves can provide a objective correlative. US temperament needs to move from ethos of W B Yeats to those of T S Eliot to obtain superior comprehension of emerging realities and realize the intent of creating a primary relationship.

The problem is this has been taken too personally.

When you think objectively that no one is above the law, the matter resolves by itself.

US has not played any role, it's the local law reinforcement and attorney office taking care of their every day business.

This situation arises when some vested interest people think that VIP people are above the law and fool the common people to be sympathetic .

This CIA agent thing was brought up by Devyani's father who apparently is a retired IAS officer, senior grade.
What has he got in his head??
If any proof was required to show that the father is a nincompoop, this is it.
What damage he would have caused with his super brain while in service is unimaginable.
And he wants to enter politics and use the Dalit card.

It is high time the media stopped giving all this unwanted and nonsensical coverage to The one and only Devyani, the high profile culprit.
She needs to be in jail and surely the US courts will ensure that, if not our courts for all the lies she has told under OATH to get an Adarsh apartment allotted.

The CIA is capable of" purchasing" any indian. It is not a secret and Sweeper to Cabinet secretary and Panchayat member to President/prime minister of india, will spred red carpet to US and will come to terms if a bit of cash is there for them. Then CIA,which has billions of $ as funds for espionage and clandastine activities are sure to purchase any one,who has access to any secrets and ,sangeeta, house maid of Devayani has access to Zeya,US Diplomat, who lived is a sprawling bunglow in Delhi, where Sanggta's In-laws were accomodated. Mr Bhushan, are you aware of these facts? Or were you in the pay roloo of US.
