people like u make a joke of our country. U don't the severity of d situation and I think u dn't deserve 2 b called an Indian.
hi dear, its a shame that this happened with you. people need extra social education and nee to understand that everyone has social respect. people in india should treat foreigners with respect and help them. they should not touch any one against their wish.well, i have heard similar stories from few girls in abroad who visited india. we should change this culture.
We Indians cannot tolerate the same bad treatment if given to our daughtrs, wives or mothers but we take pleasure if done to other women of our country or other country. We are definitely uncivilized brutes and need extra social education to improve upon.Educational system has to be modified to teach these values from childhood itself.Until such time the situation will continue.

Narsimharao, please take the pain to read the fine prints on Indian newspapers, I came across cases where the recent law 'That a women can harm a man in case she feels unsafe' has been severely misused by smart women in India. Families have no food to eat why would they send their children to school, and even if they start sending their children to school for so called good education then we may solve the rape issues but we will face high unemployment and then all men will be jobless cause women have an edge over men in all jobs. So please be aware that all we need is a good government, structuring a good economy to facilitate basic necessities of poor and middle-class and see how all this goes away
I read the column on CNN by Rose. It seems really unlikely that so many (about 5) incidents will happen to the same girl. I mean you can experience one or maybe two incidents, but after that you will get careful and report it and not go out at all. The story seems fishy, something's not quite right.

Indian Population is 1.241 Bn and USA population is approx 313.9 millian. Number of Rapes reported in USA last year are about 90,000 and number of rapes reported in India 24,246. It means in USA there were 286 rapes per million where as in India it is 20. So You see where woman are raped more and unsafe. You need some reality check.
Many of my relatives have also faced similar situations in USA but they never generalised that all USA males are rapist.
The article seems untrue as during Ganeshotsav if a white lady is dancing in festival there is lot of curiosity. People whould love to watch you dancing and photograph you. It is rare sight to see a white woman dancing. I am from Bombay but it is much more safer for woman than any other city such as London and New York.

your reasoning is disgusting and flawed my man. just because cases are reported in the USA, does not mean the per million rapes there are more.. are you aware of how many rapes have been unreported in India? are you also aware that some rapes although reported are not filed and documented? perhaps the most disgusting part of your argument is the fact that you are inferring that it is "ok" for rapes to take place as it is a common thing and people should accept it.. saying our country is better off compared to other countries is the reason why we are in this pathetic mess of a country with no change taking place.. victims continue to suffer while the perpetrators continue to stayed unharmed. if some woman activist tracked you down she'd probably burn down your house.. with you inside.. and me, a guy, would have no problem with that..

rightly. said so. there are thousands of rapes unreported for the fear of be ostrasized or due to family name. Even if you go to complain to the cops you are not sure whether your case will be registered. For all you know you might get raped in by a cop. Some idiot seems to compare this episode to some tibals and call beatiful country. He will know when his daughter is raped or molested by a policeman or a politician. He will have no where to go. It sucks.

Mr Rehan I never said it is OK. I was commenting on CNN report and comments on the report. Rapes should not happen in civil society. strcict laws must be made rapist must be punished. Tone of report on CNN and comments was was such that It was showing America is paradise for woman and woman should not wander in to India as it is very bad place. statistics was provided as reality check. USA is as bad as India is.

Tracking someone with an opinion and burning his house is a very civilized behavior. Hats off to you Mr.Rehan. Its a slave mentality that believes every rape in USA is reported and the opposite happens in India. Better migrate.

Mr. Rehan,
Who told you that cases are 100% reported in USA. I have seen people not going to Police here in US because the Police is violent enough, and you don't know what may happen. About the CNN post it is disgusting I will never take it from a foreigner if a foreigner feels unsafe in India it is their problem, I feel unsafe in US but I never mention it because it's my choice to be here

The comment is in reference to report by CNN and comments of american people. The tone of report and comment says that India and Indian people are very damgerous. Woman should avoid going there. The statistics given throws some light. as to which places are more dangerous. Auther does not say it is ok to rapes he is just giving data to the people who claim USA is better. It is in Mr Rehans mind that auther says its ok.
The problem is not India, it's men. Any country you go to men make up the majority of criminals who rape and harass women. Let's put women in charge and start teaching young boys to stop hating girls and women so much. Reverse the global rape culture.
Re: re: men are the problem, not India
by sere on Aug 22, 2013 11:44 AM
Women are so good manipulators of men's mind they hurt men is more that one ways not physically but emotionally and mentally, but the civilized society (world) does not consider it to be a crime. That is exactly men have their great share in crime, but I am sure world will find a difference in this statistics once we start considering the fact that hurting someone emotionally and mentally is far worst or rather atleast as bad a rape
It doesn't matter if we have the best laws in the world. There are things that are wrong with how our justice system delivers. Perhaps we could learn how other countries do it, not remain stuck to the past, useless precedents.
What is soon going to happen is that this will give birth to vigilante justice, I Indian Police do not seem to be taking this issue seriously enough all they do is talk. Public Floggings of these scoundrels and publishing name and address plus place of work will also act as a deterrent!!!! Wake Up India or you are going to end up as a Pariah Nation for tourists!!!
