Why give it so much importance
by biswanath roy on Aug 25, 2013 07:16 PM  | Hide replies

Just because she is a foreigner and that from our beloved America, her molestation is being given too much importance by our media both print and social. In a country were every day 100 women/ girls are being raped daily by even their own relatives, which makes them shut their mouths. It is the mentality of the Indian males towards their womenfolk which has to be changed. Moreover the absymal gender ratio in the favour of males also has a role to play in this.

That's the WHOLE POINT of all these letters that are going viral, Mr.Roy. Millions of women in India suffer sexual harassment on the streets and even at home! This attitude has to change. It has to begin somewhere. How does it matter if the victim is American or India? The fact remains that a woman cannot walk safely on the streets in India. And we boast of 'culture'. Sigh!

About the article To an American girl, an apology from India
by some one on Aug 25, 2013 05:50 PM  | Hide replies

Sheer pure undiluted nonsense. Apologizing makes no sense coming from an Indian writing about Indians.

It is better that everyone understands that Indians are a very primitive society which is trying to imitate a modern society but not very successfully. American girls should read up about stone age humans and imagine that for India the clock did not work properly and they got left behind in the stone age like stage while the Western developed white people moved ahead with the business of civilization. Stone age people do not have to apologize to modern people.

you seem to indicate that white people, i.e. higher castes in India are more civilized. When things overturned after independence, we moved @ 100 years per year backwards. It also had a consequence in our society in such a way that smart and influential white people (higher castes) from our own society have left to live with the civilized world (west) leaving the scum blacks behind.

I/We apologise
by ARUMOY DAS on Aug 25, 2013 10:23 AM

I as an Indian Man, is part of these sorry state, hence I am part of this system, no amount of write ups here will restore the damage inflicted to Ms Rose and all women folks who are living in our Incredible India! Human rights have been replaced by Animal Acts, Jungle Rule.Whosoever says about the scanty dresses are invitation to molestation are starved of all sensible , cultural mind frame, China is again an example , ladies can wear anything , just bare minimum in Summer days, only it becomes eye candy for us, but for the men folks in China, it is not at all a diversion as because , rule against molestation is very severe and timely, both of which is non existent in Ballotocratic country, where only thing matter is DEMOCRACY, never mind how many women lose the right to live a dignified life, how many fathers, brothers , sons, husbands or boyfriends will bear the brunt of having their female folkes, ogled, rubbed, master...ted, raped and murdered.Besides falling rupee value, our morality has fallen to the lowest.Recipe, all women to be given freedom to carry arms, use it for their defense, may be some loads on judiciary and law enforcing authority will lessen , society will have some correction in next decade.

Apologies from me too, as my city, Pune, is involved in this. I ask for no evidence. I am expressing my unconditional apology. I couldn't just imagine such things are so common.

Is the apology meant for the bad behavior or for being caught ?

There must be a through investigation
by vivek reddy on Aug 24, 2013 09:54 PM  | Hide replies

There should be a thorough investigation and even CBI enquiry should also be not enough. Along with the culprits the teachers who gave them the education should also be punished.

Public money and the time of public resources such as CBI should not be wasted in investigating the already well known customs and discovering the unchangeable truths of Indian society.

the act of rape is a shame to the nation
by raja dutta on Aug 24, 2013 09:12 PM

I express my heart felt sympathy for the victim and also i appreciate the writer of this article for opening it up to the public .Now what is the solution ? I think the perpetrator of such crime must be face trial in fast track court -ie the judgement should be pronounced in a month and death penalty and castration should be options for the punishment .Secondly sociologist should be involved to find out the subtle cause of such crime and ways and means to prevent such crime .One of the option according to me may be allowing brothels to operate legally and all the sex workers should be given photo identity card by the govt .and the sex workers should be treated as a normal worker working in other sectors .By this single act many evils inflicted upon the sex workers by the pimps ,police and human traffickers can be eliminated . And the society in large will be ssfe for women.

North East Indians are among the few well behaved people of India. They are also smart and therefore not well tolerated by mainland Indians. Increased mixing with mainland people threatens to end that qualitative separation. Over time they are likely to be overwhelmed and might become as bad behaved as mainland Indians. It is inevitable and not much can be done to prevent it. The country cannot maintain isolated good pockets within the bad mass of it.

by kapil khandelwal on Aug 23, 2013 04:26 PM  | Hide replies

In searching job, rural people are coming to urban areas but they are not able to adopt the culture. In urban areas it is very normal to wear short or stylish dresses which is new to rural areas which tempt to rural areas people. the best solution to educate people and capital punishment so no one will dare to do this again.

The Indian culture creates abnormal attitudes through physical separation of boys and girls from an early age. This suits it because it was created to be a slave culture.

Fast liberation is needed for which the only feasible means is to adopt western culture whole heartedly instead of mere superficial imitation of dress and manners. Western culture is founded on freedom of the individual, an unknown concept in Indian culture.

There are vested interests that try to delay modernization by all means because it would end their domination. It is a class struggle except that no one is actually struggling at all. Indians are habitual drifters and are not much concerned about the progress of their nation.
