Culturall gap
by hyderabad on Aug 23, 2013 12:53 PM  | Hide replies

india is growing and population is growing much faster...towns and villages are emptying and cities r expanding...people of all culture, type, background r found in major cities...these guys r the major reasons for such rapecases....apart from this the women dress code and behavior is the crukx of the problem...many people will find my words wrong as I see such comments r being ripped apart in media innthe name of narrow thinking and regressive approach...but the fact is that a womb cab be in herbikini in brazil and still dosentgetraped while in shorts she is rapedinindia...as Indian peopled unable to adopt accept and control their desire after looking to such dress code and the behavior...a womn in rural parts may not be so open and accepting to be social with a unknown person as today's girls with open thinking has and thus gives miss signals to such people....and they think it is acceptance.,...if u analyze al rapecases u will find 2 types of people involved one is an animalwho cannot be corrected as he has developed this behaviour out of his childhood, family etc...while others are pray to misunderstanding of two people thinking leadin to a situation that end result is disastrous...the best thing is to have a strick law...rapistto be given capital punishment....womensto be dressed in manner and behave in respect....else this is going to be a big disease in India...I remember ,y days in Delhi...believe me it was patheticsick dressing and sick dressing by womensandgirls...

It is wrong data to believe that revealing dress increases chances of sexual assault in India. What actually happens is that the attacker does not usually try to hide assaults on revealingly dressed women, while they take extreme precautions when they assault traditionally dressed women. Traditionally dressed women living in conservative families and in villages get raped routinely throughout their lives almost as a custom, but the news is not leaked as both the victim and her rapist have been fully trained not to let it become known. In Indian culture, rape is not dishonorable but telling about it is very dishonorable. There are reasons behind it but that is not relevant here.

Revealingly dressed women are usually urban and educated and are now learning not to hide the assault. As a matter of fact the revealingly dressed Indian women suffer much less sexual assaults than their traditionally dressed counterparts.

The only way in which dressing is related to rape in India is in terms of handling the information, not the chances of assault itself.

As fast as possible traditionally dressed Indian women should give it up and adopt a more revealing style as well as the manners and education that usually go with it, in case they wish to do something to reduce the sexual assaults on them, which is not completely certain. Slaves almost never strive to be free, it is others who sometimes think of thrusting freedom on them.

No! I don't agree with you, just letting male and female every thing openly does not stop the things. remind you most rapes occur in USA!! It is the lack of sanskars that is sinking us. No morality, just loot what ever comes in your way is our culture glorified by our media. That is why netas loot and still get reelacted, babus eat thousands of crores but remain on post, mafia enchroches land worth crores but continues to enjoy and mens rape by eye, hand, comments etc. but still keep smiling. No social pressure or culture, every thing is open and we keep our eyes closed.

ho told you USA has more rapes.. show us the statistics where you saw that.. what manoj kumar has said totally correct.. we have to be realistic.. if we try to suppress desire in the name of Sanskar these things will keep happening.. and yes, we need a strong law enforcement system side by side too..

True Apology

This is quite painfull, but I like the way you stood up for rest of the Indians who cannot be marred by attrocious behaviour of the few. Every society Evolves and India indeed is a part of that process.

We all are sorry for what happened and a wishful thought that some day one Indian will impact your life in a positive manner that all issues will locked in the chamber of past....

Our Law and Order is evolving to provide the necessary security to our own 1.2 bill population apart from the tourist that visit us. It has evolved over last decade with better governance and we are sure "Hum Hongey Kamyab Ek Din" to provide the much required equality for every living being in this country.

Your sincerely,

Brother Abel

Racism in India

I do not wish to deviate from the grave and serious issue this article discusses but I could not help notice a line in this article " from the jungles in the northeast to the prosperity of the west" . Dear author, perhaps it has been very long since you have been to the North East. There are about 55 million people living in the North East and let me tell you that not all of them live in jungles. And by the way in the North East women are treated "comparatively" far better than any other region in our country and there are perhaps the least amount of violence directed towards women of all ages whether they are alive or still in the womb of their mothers. I find it very surprising how even educated people can be racist to a degree but what is even more surprising is that despite their education they do not even realize that they are being racist and generalizing a group of people.
I totally agree with what you had to say through this article. What happens needs to be condemned and I hope that the Criminal Law Amendment act 2013 and the recent guidelines issued by the Supreme Court regarding acid attacks are the first steps regarding this issue but a lot more still needs to be done
Thank You

For Rose Chasm--our apologises
by jyoti srivastava on Aug 23, 2013 10:00 AM  | Hide replies

Yes,Rose chasm..its a bitter truth..but we have to accept that there is something very wrong with us Indians.behind all the claims that we worship our woman and what not..the truth is we treat our woman like a commodity.she just has to brush on our egos and we shall pounce on her.Growing up in small cites and getting internship in our Rape capital... before I was 13 years old I realised it was tough world out there-eve teasing ,getting groped at in crowded places, lewd comments when you went out for an education, guys wating outside ur school and colleges watching you etc.It was after getting married did things get a little better.I am not suprised with what has happended to you.But I am very very sorry for the behavior meted out to you.But nothing much will change...there is something very wrong with us unfortunately.

i think an online apology acknowledged by sane Indians and sent to the lady will do a lot good to such kind of crime committed by lunatics who are libilities to the nation, my personal opnion is that the police is deep corroupted to take any action, the entire people of the nation should boycott this people, the shopkeers should not provide any thing...no food or water at resturants...no travel in any vehicle, etc and they should be forced to appologize in manner which will serve as lesson to others
