Focus on Performance
by subhas chand on May 13, 2011 11:20 PM

We need to evaluate politicians in terms of how they perform in government rather than how they "perform" in an election. A person getting several thousands above his oponent is not really a better politician than one who wins on a slight margin. The number of votes one gets means how much people like him over someone else, based on his political performance, religion, caste, and also how he has been performing in the months close to election. The collective community mind has only a short memory, but a lot of forgiveness. A man becomes a hero by winning a race. We must check our built in evolutionary traits. Reduced objectivity leads to impediments in socio-political development of our society, and to reuse of the same muddy political waters for consumption. We lose sight being immersed. Let us stand outside and stand back a bit and view.
VS is an honest (as honest as a human can get in politics-listening to O Rajagopal will make one believe he is also a very honest person, 'all that glitters is not gold' but still, give credit where it belongs, even with conditional clauses...), but has he been successful in fully executing the many things he eagerly set out to do? I would say he has in many and in many he was blocked.I rather think we need a person like VS with regard to the commitment to root out corruption,we need persons like MA Baby, Thomas Isaac, Bhadrakumar and Dr. Ekbal (lost in Changanassery this time)with regard to intellectual prowess

The greatest implication of the victory of UDF is going to be in the muslim community. The rate of thalibanization is going to be very high. We can expect more communal clashes in future. One advantage of LDF was they were never minority pleasing.

Man , a descedent of Monkies?.
by Converts Paradise on May 13, 2011 08:25 PM  | Hide replies

God won to show Dialectical Materialism is nonsense. Communists should reconsider their philosohpy as human beings are not species of animals. They are honourable species created by God in possession of their souls.

This is a victory of God and Religion . This is also a death of Dialectical Materialism and Death of Darwinism.

Communists should understand human beings as not species of animals who struggles with conflicts, war and bloodshed for development through dominence. But a mere manifestation of morality as demanded by God and also what pleases to God.

Death of Communism in India is the victory of God and Religion in India who are craving for Capitalism, Development and Materialism.

Belief in God is in the emotional part of the brain - the limbic lobe, it is not amenable to change through cortical input of logic. Belief is transcendental; it transcends logic. So no discussion on God being victorious or being alive or existing can be driven into a brain that has no emotional need to believe, nor can the belief be removed from a brain through logical analysis. Christ was the first communist and a good one. So his father and the holy ghost must also be good communists working for equality and rule of law.

Victory of Communal Politics
by desparado on May 13, 2011 07:46 PM  | Hide replies

Ummen Chandy represents the powerful catholic church and the so called 'secular' Indian Union Muslim League. Congress secularism does not go beyond the appeasement of the powerful Christian and Muslim vote banks, the Hindus are not represented as it should be. Hindus in Kerala in every aspects are second class citizens.

Hindus n Kerala need a lesson to be learned. They already sidelined for everything in Kerala. The Communal polarisation of Muslim and Christian is getting stronger.

Kerala is already at the brink of a collapse. It will happen soon.

In Kerala it the victory of communal politics. With 20 MLAs of MuslimLeague and 9 MLAs of KeralaCongress, it is back to blackmailPolitics. During one of their earlier era the then Speaker A.C.Jose had to cast his vote as many as 9 times a day to save the Ministry.

The IUML and K Congress leaders are not black mail politicians, they are the political business men, the traders in politics.

Who will rule Kerala?
by Tom Dick on May 13, 2011 07:19 PM  | Hide replies

With 72 vs 68, horse trading will start now I suppose. UDF, with all factions will be fighting for ministerial positions. IUML & K.C. (M) will be asking for their pound of flesh. Groupism will raise its head in Congress soon. LDF will continue to raise issues such as Ice Cream case etc. UDF will start witch hunting. Overhaul, the next government also will not do anything good for the people of Kerala.

NO. As the number is less it is easy to divide. There won't be any problem. What you think is old story when more parties won. This time only limited parties won.

May be you are right! But do you think the UDF will be able to rule for 5 years? I am neutral in this issue but have a feeling that it will be a very dicey 5 years. Winners are the politicians and not the people as developemnet will remain statusqo....
