Really a great loss to the world of music.
May his soul rest in peace.
Why he chose to reside in Pune?

any specific reason you asked for his place? Personalities like Panditji are not location specific.. they belongs to whole India.. Also take me this opportunity to tell that, recently Maharashtra was projected as anti non maharashtrian is not true.. Just basis on Mumbai whole maharashtrfa cant be evautaed.. many well known personlities prefer to stay at Mumbai or Pune due to cultural reasons , ease and comfort they get here.
Specially for Pune.
Pune is known for its culture, Hope this answers

curious question
by syz2@rediffmail.com on Jan 24, 2011 10:43 AM  | Hide replies

I have no disrespect to Mr. Joshi or any other artist. But I am curious to know why Hindu classical artists are called "Pandit" and Muslim artists are called "Ustad"? Why we call them that? Pandit and Ustad is a generalized title. They are Pandit and Ustad in their own field, which is music. If he is called Pandit, why don't we call Rabindrabath Tagore a Pandit when he brought Nobel prize for us? It seems to be this calling has no logic behind it. Please let me know.

you better ask Werner Heisenberg (Uncertainity Principle) that. After formulating the said principle unconvinced he consulted Gurudev about the philosophical correctness of the same.

Yes you are right, the way the subtitles Pandit and Ustad are given is a culture pertaining to north Indian. We dont find this in south or east
