this is good investment not a waste. the results are far reaching. you would not get it if you are short shighted.
This card is essential, all developed countries use this identification card for everything. Gopal Krishna has old mentality and he is against development. He need to visit other contries and see how it works. He is siiting the well and thinks that he is superior. Indan communist party is also like that. They have old ireelevent mentality.
In most parts of the world,it is there and people in all these countries are surprised to know that in a country like India,it is not there.It makes things very easy.Without identity cards,it is hard to believe how India is working
it seems the major concern of this person is that UID wil be used to do racial profling. If really thts what he is fighting against, its already happening in the name of caste/ religion based reservation and census. UID is not responsible for that. UID will help keep our house in order, quick and easy estimation of effects of governance. Moreover it will help in speedy justice and good intelligene in the wake of terror threats. Why do companies have a serial number for their employees? Simple reason that it helps keep things in order. Similarly a company can bring good social justice if it 'knows' the numbers. Governance without knowing how many people you are governing and to whom the benefits are reaching is mor elike flying blind, and in efficient governance.
The comparison with Nazu Germany is competely out of context. We are not going to have UID tattooed on citizens, it will be in the form of a card. If any misuse of social security number happene din US decades ago, we have come a long way ahead. In the beginning when commercial flights startted, planes would crash a lot. We can not ttake that as a reason to not board a plane today.
At best the opinion of th critisizer of UID, does not hold water and is completely out of context. This person has no problem with Tx payer number, voter card, ration card, that already record so much data. Why not bring a UID and make things more streamlined. Its all about making your database more efficient.
I think India needs uni civil code and population control first. It is very true that however best system we bring in, people who handle it should be good.USA has SSN. but still they have millions of illegals inside

As for the arguments for or against UID, i think any system is as goodd or bad as ppl who run it, if the system is run with good intentions then system is beneficial else system is bad .. id'ing ppl , electronic money , electronic telecom and survillance capability which comes with it can be misused by anybody in power, is definitely misused .. tagging and numbering ppl in my opinion is not a good idea ..i oppose uid ..

UID which we create to serve us, may become our master .. in wrong hands .. as knowledge is power, information is a weapon ..
