Your language itself reflects what kind of knowledge-able person you are. He is citing valid reasons and public should not blindly believe or follow so called great human beings like Nandan Nilkeni. Read his book Imagining India and if you got some conscience left, you will understand his intentions. Gopal Krishna is putting another perspective in front of us and I do not see anything wrong into it.
But This guy first know that Nilekani was APPOINTED by govt of India - by the Indian Parliment after consenus by the elected representatives of the governement.

Clearly different people find different arguments against UIDAI. Ringht wingers say it will legitimize illegal migrants. Left wingers like this guy would say it would help "imperialist" powers to target margninalized sections- talk about opposite views! A large scale project like UIDAI is bound to have some negatives attached to it but its benefits are going to be more far reaching.
There will always be people who protest against progress to Lawabiding society and who want to lead us in the dark ages or who are funded by mobsters to make the society civilised !

Don't do anything to have proper accounting of people? USA has social security number and did that lead to repression? Now any criminal can move from one place to another and pretend to be a nice guy. If we have UID then it is easy to track people down.
