Progression needed.
by jayanth k on Feb 06, 2011 12:38 AM  | Hide replies

Politicians will make money with or without the UID. Gopal Krishna should focus on bringing economic progression for the under priviledged sections of the society. Trying to create a controversy will not take us anywhere. Instead provide creative inputs to plugs deficiencies the UID might have.

We as a country have not progressed much in the last 60 years. While countries like South Korea, Japan and Germany which were in a worser state than India in 1940s progressed much ahead of us. South Koreans came to India in 1950s to understand India's 5 years policies and implement the same in their country. Now what matters is that South Korea now has moved from a developing nation to a developed nation while India still struggles with its indecisiveness and lack of progessive transparent polcies.

Well said Jayanth.

One of the glitch in India is knowledgeable and honest people are not directly contributing to Indian politics. This scene must change.

Dumb Nut
by jayanth k on Feb 06, 2011 12:29 AM  | Hide replies

Gopal Krishna is a dumb nut with no exposure nor brain.

Every developed nation has a unique ID number for its citizen. This ID is used to track taxes, credit history, provide social security, pensions, job opportunities, education, census and much more. India as a country has to have this unique number to provide a more efficient, less bureaucratic and a structured delivery mechanism of its policies to the right people.

There is definitely a cost involved in the rollout of this system, but the returns it provides far out weighs the cost involved. Its similar to building roads, there is a lot of money involved in building roads, but is it wise to say that the money spent of laying the road is wasted until the benefits of the investment is really understood?
That is the problem with Gopal Krishna! who talks nonsense and uses Mahatma's name without understanding that Gandhi himself wanted a modern society reformed of our historical baggages of discrimination based on caste, religion, complexion, money etc. UID is a national integration tool and not a discrimination tool. Equating to Nazi's or South Africans apartheid shows poor judgemnt on part of Gopal Krishna.
And Mr Gopal Krishna, if I use the same stupid rational of yours and ask Isnt your name discriminatory towards the Christians, Jews, Muslims, Sikhs and other religious people. You are forcing people of other religion call you Hindu God's name. How Stupid

Thanks to Nilekani we have a world class company Infosys and you no

A Scam and Subversion of Our Rights
by Shaunak on Feb 06, 2011 12:17 AM

The criticism is spot on. There are two possible scenarios: (1) The UID project fails: The faiure will cost the citizens several billion dollars, most of which will be siphoned off by the politician-bureaucrat evil axis. However, this is a better scenario than the next one. (2) UID is successfully implemented. The politician-bureaucrat evil axis will still cream billions AND India will turn into a police state where your all your financial / legal / medical records will could called at the press of a key by any a*hole with a government title.
Under the name of security / prevention of infiltration the government is cynically using technology not to improve the effciency of its services but the enhance its control over the affairs of the citizens. Nandan Nilekani was a diabolical choice to lead this initiative, for he is the poster boy of Indian middle classes with his IIT education and billion dollar net worth (it is of no consequence that he is just a glorified body shopper who benefitted from the imbalances in global currency valuations). This invasive, repressive scam must be stopped at all costs.

IndiraGandhi's SwissBankAccount: S0nia got it, or Maneka got it?
by ksdfjkkkkk on Feb 06, 2011 12:10 AM

i dont know, if y'all recall.

Back in the '80's, newspapers ran HEADLINE articles on:
IndiraGandhi's bank balances, which if i recall accurately, it was around 3,000CR.

the sources were apparently SwissBankReleases.

SO, NOW:
1. what happens when the a/c holder dies?

2. do the Swiss ppl take over that money, or, is it given to the kids?

3. if given to the kids:
a. did Rajiv, i.e. S0nia get that money, OR,
b. did Sanjay, i.e. Maneka get that money?

Sanjay Garg
idiot
by Sanjay Garg on Feb 06, 2011 12:01 AM

this idiot must know that in South Africa, things were entirely different. There were discriminatory passes which were to be carried all the time by Natal Indians.

Infact he is not idiot, he is an opportunist dragging the great Mahatma Gandhi' s name to rationalise his silly argument.

by morass on Feb 05, 2011 11:56 PM

At some point in time may be in future , in our democracy, I pray God that there will be a strong leadership which will bring about 'Freedom of expression' but 'idiots are not worthy of expression' clause.

These fking idiots cause more damage to the society and the country - like media.
