Mahesh Bhatt
by Ravinder Malhotra on Apr 25, 2011 12:25 AM

Mahesh Bhatt should stick to doing what he does best; making films.

There is a saying " Everyone dreams. But there are two options available to every individual. Continue dreaming or get up and start acting on those dreams"

Mr. Hazare has started acting on those dreams and aspirations of the vast majority of Indians for whom this nation is dear.

In the current Lok Pal draft. WHO APPOINTS THE LOK PAL ? anyone here??? Is it Sonia's uncle who appoints , is it my uncle who appoints or is it the people (lok) ??

Blue REVOLUTION declaration is most powerful help to Lok Pal draft because Blue REVOLUTION gives DIRECT election (of PM/CM and even Lok Pal ) power to PEOPLE and direct impeachment power to PEOPLE (LOK).

Under Blue revolution declaration.
"
Impeachment vote happens after every 6 months OR a year, dis-grunted people(irate citizen_ show up at the election booth and vote against the elected for IMPEACHMENT causes. ONCE IMPEACHED by 51% of ALL those who voted for all the candidates last time(which elected the one to be impeached), The corrupt elected will be ejected and tried for punishment.
"
Cost of election and impeachment is not big if we use honest EVMs with print-outs that allows voters to check the tally. And allows voters to add final tally from all the EVMs. It is like using computer at cyber-cafe. Dummy EVMs can be kept so people can test before they use the real one with tally print-out. Honesty, enforced by people and not by election officials.

For safety or to prevent bribes, the people can be disallowed from taking the tally print-outs with them in certain places. They will have to put it in a secure locked box before leaving (for later-day inquiry).
BUT THE FINAL/Last VOTE on EVM should be casted by Candidate representatives who can be allowed to carry the print-outs and sh

Dharwin adds -
instead of disallowing voters to take the vote tally print-out after vote is casted, they will have to put it in a secure locked box (like ballot box) before leaving (in-case there is inquiry) the booth. Though the last votes that will have to be casted by each of the candidate representative and they can take the vote tally print-outs after showing to EC officials for records so count addition of all EVMs can be verified..

An effective law is necy.Bring the culprit to book quickly...now it drags endlessly.Let the law be enacted quickly and implemented.

The Govt must give what the citizens want.If i ant doc then it must be given quickly without asking for this and that doc.You go to a Govt office work is never done in one trip and they make u visit repeatedly...unless you bribe someone.....and there are agents in every govt office...RTO,Property Registrar'office,BMC,etc..

Mr. Mahesh film making is different????
by indian on Apr 24, 2011 09:17 PM

For the last 62 years India have developed in only two fields. 1) uncontrolled population and 2) Corruption. for increasing population we the people of India have contributed and in increasing corruption Corrupt Congress and its leader have contributed. Mr. mahesh film making is only on fiction but to wrok in society is not so easy. Films made by you are C class movies only and not a single movie of yours gave any message to society. I do not understand why people like Mahesh Bhatt and others talk on such subject. Now in Indai a person does a good work or bad work becomes celebraty. It is really pathetic. Item girl like Rakhi Sawant is also a celebraty. And person like AAJ TAK channel also takes Rakhi's interview in SIDHI BAAT. Morals and character of society have gone down. it is shameful for the people of India and for the nation also.

MEDIA SILENCE ON ANIL AMBANI IS DEAFENING
by damodaran mohan on Apr 24, 2011 02:26 PM  | Hide replies

How is it that even after such big scam involving ADAG , Anil Ambani has not been touched yet by the investigating agencies although he was interrogated by the CBI couple of times. While in case of smaller companies involved in the scam like DB Reality,Swan teleco,Unitech etc. the promoters have been picked up why is that in case of ADAG only the officials have been jailed and Anil Ambani, the owner and promoter is roaming free ? In fact ADAG appears to be the source of origination of this scam and investment of cross-holding of whatever nature could not have been done by the ADAG officials w/o the approval of Anil Ambani. There must be sufficient evidence in the files and it was reported in the media through the Banks that only the Anil Ambani couple could have signed the cheques. It appears from fresh media reports already some cover up operations have begun to bail out Anil& Tina Ambani out of the scam.Surprisingly, the media which made so much noise on the Bhusans is completely silent on Anil Ambani’s role on the scam.

Damodaran,

You do have a point. Perhaps you remember after hobnobbing openly with SP leadership when UPA-1 came to power, there was his famous run in jogging suit which led all the way upto UPA Chairperson home for a chance meeting.

But then no point naming individuals, if we nab one fish others would still spawn. We need to think of systemic solutions about how our polity is conducted, how our businesses operate and how executive driven bureaucracy governs.

If you look at the life of Dhirubai Ambani, he made very significant contribution to expansion of Indian GDP. That time many called his way as illegal, think our laws which were bottleneck to economic growth hence could be even deemed illegal. Thought then that Dhirubai was being rational and patriotic.

Things are now bit different after liberalisation, but it is not clear what all maladies lurk under the surface. The incidence of crony capitalism has not lessened, but healthy corporate growth has also taken place.

On these matters of business ethics, the resolution of the matter is not that easy. To make good laws such that ethics and legality converge is also not easy. As history of Dhirubhai showed to serve real national interests circumventing laws were the only option. Let us keep in mind that our business did deliver on mobile telephony for India and in terms of costs, efficiency, facilities, performance has been phenomenal, better than all developed nations. Let us be also proud of this achievement.

Wonder why laws can not be made which upholds the dignity of business people and dignity of our politicians. Why do these set of fairly well to do prefer to remain with a soiled image in the eyes of young country men?

Perhaps after the exit of Left front and the eventual weakening of premier dynasty raj, MMS would get the requisite backing to clean up the legal stables and formulate rational market reform oriented laws to enhance the dignity of our business and political elites. The think-tank competency to make such a change is available, but it awaits recognition.

That is corporate media for you, friend.

They are perhaps the most powerful entity in every third world nation that has pawned itself to neo-liberalism !

And the stupid middle class of such nations beleive in earnest that the changes brought on by their neo-liberalist governments constitute real 'development' !

lokpal bill
by s r on Apr 24, 2011 01:06 PM

Yes, lokpal bill alone will not be able to completely remove the well entrenched corruption from the society, but it will be a strong positive first step, let all of us support it, pl ignore the self styled intellectuals like Bhatt and the professional politicians like digvijay singhs, amar singhs and mayavatis. probabaly all such people are afraid and thus creating the hurdles for the sole aim of protecting their illgotten wealth.

there is no need to worry about what these useless people are talking.
