Most middle class commoners in India know Mahesh Bhatt
by piri on Apr 24, 2011 10:54 AM

very well. He did many things that easily catch the eye of the typical Indian commoner. He produced commercial cinema and showed a number of women in skimpy clothes. Besides, he shrewdly added to this attention by sometimes talking explicitly about sex and the like. To the commoner who reads little other than what titillates him, Mahesh Bhatt did enough to be worthy of his attention.

What about Mr. Panikkar ? He may be one of the foremost historians living in India today. He might have written several books that make the various perspectives of history simple enough to understand for the commoner who tries. He might have headed perhaps the most prestigious Sanskrit university in India. He might have been on the boards of various committees to decide and rule on sociological and educational issues. He might have illuminated the intricate and complex connections between history and economics like very few others have in India. He might have proved what dispassionate observation and deduction of history are, so much so that historians of all hues have acknowledged him to be one of the most eminent among them.

But what is all that to the average Indian middle class commoner ?? Such credentials are nothing but a big load of bull shit for him !

And the fact that most messages on this board talk avidly and passionately about Mahesh Bhatt but are silent about Mr. Panikkar is ample testimony for this !!

Foprmula for eradicting corruption
by premshanker gupta on Apr 24, 2011 10:46 AM

Formula to eradicate corruption

Corruption can never be eradicated by any Bill or Act, howsoever stringently worded . We already have innumerable Acts and Laws for combatting corruptions and criminal activities, such as Anti Corruption Act, Prohibition of Adulteration Act, Food and Drug Control Act etc., but these remain confine mainly to papers and openly flouted. Dishonest, Criminals and Corrupts are prospering whileas honest , law-abiding and hard-working people are leading a measly life. Hence, it is the people responsible for enforcing such Acts and Laws who matter most ant not mere any Bill or Act etc.

Therefore, what is predominantly required for eradicating corruptions, scandals and all other criminal activities as also ensuring peace and prosperity of the nation and well-being of all citizens, is a really honest, competent, bold and nationalistic governance. And the responsibility for such a governance lies ultimately with the public. Therefore, we have to unite and help Baba Ramdeo, Anna Hazare and their associates with all our might and main to spearhead the agitation for such a governance in national interest. The vested interests and their henchmen are likely to play all gimmicks to derail our mission
for a good governance, but we can frustrate them by remaining united and turning a deaf ear to all vested propaganda etc.

Mahesh Bhatt/KN Panikkar ought not to have minced words about
by piri on Apr 24, 2011 10:36 AM  | Hide replies

the stupid millions beleiving in earnest that Anna Hazare's movement will indeed 'root out' corruption !

The stupid middle classes of India now make a big hue and cry about corruption !

They are much too stupid to understand that it is their choices and beliefs that are primarily responsible in nurturing corruption in India !

All that they have understood to be important in the fight against corruption is holding candlelight vigils (because westerners do it to express solidarity), competing with each other to swear their allegiance to the cause against corruption, inanities such as taking out processions, crowding around where the 'action' (such as the one undertaken by Mr.Anna Hazare) is, etc. !!

They are in general, stupid enough to believe that corruption can be tackled solely by massing together and imitating the westerners in the manner they express solidarity for a cause !

And right after they are through with trying to get noticed in their expression of solidarity against corruption, they go back to voting for thieves saying that they are 'pro-development', competing with each other to buy more gold, more clothes, more flats, more cars (all by squeezing their hard earned and not so substantial incomes dry), watch more 'Bollywood' movies and watch more IPL cricket and come back and avidly discuss with each other the intimate details of the lives and loves of 'Bollywood stars', cricket players, etc. !

They also compete with each other in pumping themselves up with laboured pride on reading and hearing that so many Indians have stolen enough money from the exchequer with the aid of the thieves that they elected or allowed to enjoy corporate tax cuts to an extent that catapults those Indians into the league of 'Top ten' or 'Top fifty' richest men in the world. They read every detail of such examples of 'extreme Indian prosperity’ with stupid adoration and crowd around in animated discussions about Indian corporates' soaring 'wealth' !!

They run around echoing each other about how India has ‘arrived’ on the world scene and how Indians are being adored and looked upto all around the world !

And in between all that hectic adoration of those who steal from them, they take regular breaks to respond to their favoured political and religious leaders like donkeys do to the call of their master to pounce at each other in the name of religion, caste, language and sometimes even race !! They are much too stupid to understand that the mother of all divisions in society is based upon wealth and extent of theft of public resources rather than on any of the above criteria !!

you are so much talking about the stupid Indian. Where on earth did you read that "solely" a bill can "root our corruption"? Every Indian who is not against "anti corruption" knows that this bill that is being drafted is only a serious beginning. With a bill and RTI, people can try to make the life of these blood sucking politicians of India to change a little and slowly, but steadily a trend could be set such that from a 90% corrupt country, we can improve to a stage of 40% corrupt country. That, if ever achieved, will be a great thing.
By the way, some one should conduct a survey and see how many of the politicians and their relatives are in business related with activities of government? The results are likely be shocking.

Anna n the Lokpal Bill
by Damodar Biswal on Apr 24, 2011 10:10 AM

Who is this Bhat to question Anna about the members of the civil society? He never joined Anna's fight against corruption?Anna has included those who he considers capable of making contributions in the drafting of the bill.Did Mr. Bhat want his name to be included? It is all irrelevant statements.Bhat is a great show man.But he knows nothing about Lokpal bill drafting. He should keep his mouth shut.
About praising Mr.Narendra Modi......he did not praise Modi's feeling about the minorities. He praised Modi's work. When the PM....an economist of international repute... himself appriciated Modi's economic achievement.....how can a person with history background disapprove the comment of Anna on the economic achievements of Mr.Modi? This is ridiculous.Mr.Bhat,please do not bring politics to the movement of Anna.If u r not satisfied, please start a movement against corruption n measure ur popularity.

On Mr. Panittkat's Take
by prabhakar pappu on Apr 23, 2011 03:57 PM

Any one who came to know that he will be caught, will abstain from committing any crime. Currently there is no check point for bureaucrats & Politicians, they are free to their wish as they know all the crimes committed by them can be put on hold by means of Commission or JPC. lok Pal is first step to put a watch dog for them. Is it possible to control each & every citizen be prevented from committing a crime. You have not taken the crusade against the corruption, but some body else is doing. Please don't criticize them in support of Politicians. Cinema fellows life style doesn't fit in to common man's. So I just don't bother about Mr. Mahesbatt's Comment.

Shame

mahesh bhatt is one of the many communals in India who are running their shops of muslim apeasement and are making crores of rupees. He has no right to talk about Anna whose integrity about India is unquestionable, which is not the case with mahesh.

Few time back his son Rahul was found guilty of helping Hadley, the dreaded terrorist held by US, what happened to that case? Everybody want to know.

have mahesh gone even once to the families of hindus who burnt alive in the Godhra train for condolanse?

many times it has come to newspapers that persons helping muslims roit victims had made millions of rupees.

If Aamir hhan's film is not released in Gujarat, he goes to SC, but he does not do the same when thousands of hindus are killed in kashmir.

persons like him is talking about communal voilance of Modi is a big joke.

but for him this is a business.

While i agree with your views about Mahesh Bhatt, i disagree on Aamir Khan.

Aamir Khan is a secular, intelligent and patriotic indian. Unlike mahesh Bhatt, he supported Anna Hazare from the beginning.

Some people are averse to any muslim name, just as some others are averse to Hindu names. There are some truly secular Muslims in India and Aamir Khan is one of them.

Just my view.
