Poll: Will Lokpal Bill root out corruption?
by Umesh Kasturi on Apr 25, 2011 09:04 AM

I think it will surely put a check on the Politicians "Wrong power" Else why are the politicians opposing that. They know they cannot continue doing the wrong things and enjoy after the implementation of the Lokpal Bill.

If we have to consider Mahesh Bhatts opinion, that it will give power to People. What is wrong with that ANy way we have seen politician's power for 60 years !!

'Anna adopted an authoritarian approach'
by Hebbar R on Apr 25, 2011 08:54 AM

People surely are eligible to have their view. But, what is astonishing is that the Media treats people like Mahes Bhatt as experts. If Anna Hazare was anything near what Mahesh Bhatt says he was, why did people voluntarily support him? Was there even an informal invitation to people from Hazare?

Mahes Bhatt and Panikker should reiterate whether they are interested in seeing corruption stopped. While they have a right to their views, they could then atleast explain thier own strategy and also why they never came forward with their fight against corruption in their own method.

Anna Hazare
by arun govil on Apr 25, 2011 07:55 AM

Mahesh Bhat's pretensions to be an intellectual are not credible. He has no idea of what he is talking. Anna has articulated what a billion indians feel every moment. In a poor country "DEMOCRACY IS A LUXURY'.Over the past 60 years all of us have seen what these politicians do. They help themselves to the biggest peice of the National cake and the rest is gobbled up by corrupt billioneres and the Babus. The Nation requires a surgical operation to rid itself of most corruption. This is not possible in the present democratic set up. In a dictatorship only a few can get away not the whole lot.Anna's assertion that he (Civil Society) shall abide by the Parliament's decision seems to be utopian. With all politicians having a hand in the till, how can anyone dream of getting the Bill through Parliament.

anna adopted authoritarian approach
by nagendrakumar susarla on Apr 25, 2011 07:37 AM

Dear Mr. Bhatt, Gandhi also went on fast and pressurised the british to leave the country.
Was he authoritarian ? If the govts were sincere why the bill is pending for 42 years ? is it not because of vested interests ? I am really glad that the country sans politicians adn buracrats were united and stood behind anna hazare. It is like if your child does not listed to you, you have to slap him. Only when supreme court pressurised, cbi enquired into the scam. Unless there is social pressure things will not move
