Calling Anna Hazare an Ayatollah makes it clear the intention of the writer of the article. He said or gave an impression that he belongs to an NGO fighting against corruption. The common man's experience says that NGOs in India are the den of corruption in most cases. They usually run on black money and the founders of NGOs (mostly) have the intention of enjoying a cosy life without having the business tension of earning money. This article smells of being written by a beneficiary of the scam tainted Congress & allies politicians. While the politicians are unable to make any direct attack on Anna Hazare they are resorting to this flanking attack strategies. Youth and the people of India are not fools to believe in this. The question is why Rediff is publishing such articles. Is it a beneficiary (of Pawar/Kalmadi/Raja & likes) too?

Lok Pal Bill Wll NOT Reduce Corruption&Looting Even 5
by Xin Xin on Apr 09, 2011 09:59 AM  | Hide replies

All this Hype on auseless Lok Pal Bill?Just Shallow Words and isolated protest fasts, etc are NOT enough to save our nation ,We NEED Radical Electoral &Voting System Changes NOW!First and Foremost Election commission MUST make sure that electronic voting machines are NOT rigged like last lok sabha elections and must confirm validity of results by doing simultanous ballot paper voting to prevent possibility of rigging of EVM machines! Only crooks and looters have made our democracy a TOTAL FARCE and looters and dacoits rule 90 crore poor majority hindus making them beggars and third class citizens. The real culprits for Making this Total Farce of a Democracy are those who drafted the constitution and drafted the election laws and even now it is not late! If the consitution makers had put the condition that only those with minimum educational qualification of an intermediate degree are allowed to vote and that voting is made compulsory for all adults and punishable with jail and huge fine for those not voting without adequate reason, india would have been a super power rivalling USA and Europe by now and the crooked nheru dynasty and looters would not have looted trillions of dollars and made 85 crore hindus beggars and third class citizens in the country and there would not have been 500 million hindus without one full meal as is the case now.It is time all political parties and all intellectuals and patriots come together and make electoral reforms&save

All Hindus&ALL Patriots Agitate NOW in streets to Bring Back all Looted trillions from swiss and german banks and Must DISTRIBUTE THE LOOTED FUNDS TO ALL HINDUS AND INDIANS BELOW THE POVERTY LINE. Shame that RSSmVHP and BJP paper tigers and cadres and leaders are not in the streets already with this demand. RSS, VHP and BJP must kick out all oldies and give leadership to active and aggressive leaders and it is time Advnaiji and Sushma pave the way for young and aggressive leaders if BJP wants to come back to lead the nation after next elections. They must agitate too Make Radical and Election Reforms NOW to save nation from looters&scamsters and fraudstares. Like In developed countries, term of parliament and assembly must be three years only and not cnadidate should be allowed to compete for more than 2 terms in assmbly and lok sabha and panhcyat and muncipality elections too. Since polticians and political parties are the greatest beneficiaries of our present electoral and voting system an since media and intellectuals are acting as cheer leaders of crooked rulers and looters, there is no light at the end of the tunnel and our banana republic becoming a super banana republic is a real possibility now unless the majority hindus wake up ans start a total revoilution to reform the rotten electoral and voting system, can we see a miracle happening, let us hope so!

Misplaced cynicism
by Vikram Modi on Apr 09, 2011 09:45 AM  | Hide replies

adly, this article is typical of the "armchair pundit" streak in us Indians. Always keen to demonstrate the original thought or the contrarian view, often for no other purpose than to be able to claim "Didn't I tell you so".
Lets for once not let our cleverness and cynicism get in the way of whole-hearted support for Anna and co. Terms like "Ayatollah" are ill-chosen and calculated to get attention. The main point Anna has "dictated" is that the committee have broad representation and not be packed by stooges who will drive the bill into toothlessness. Extrapolating that insistence into vague hints of conspiracy to "misappropriate and mis-use" power is irresponsible at best, and malicious, at worst.

I agree. Anna Hazare may not be sophisticated like the author, but his intentions are clear. Let us not nitpick and try to dilute the fight against corruption.

One has to be practical, which the author is not.

Author has not said Ayatolla to Anna. He is making aware youths to be careful about Ayatollas within this agitation who may take advantage of this and spoil the very purpose of anti corruption agitation. Congress is very old player and knows how to spoil any agitation. Look at the media, they are not barking against Soniya and congress.

The need for crusaders like Hazare
by Jai Babu on Apr 09, 2011 09:26 AM

Corruption, Cronyism & Nepotism have undermined our democracy. How many ministers or top bureaucrats or even lowly clerks have been convicted for corruption in the 6 decades that India has been an independent country? How many times have ill gotten gains and the disproportionate assets of those found guilty of corruption been confiscated? How many times have the discretionary powers of the ministers and top officials been misused? Successive governments have rarely accorded permission or sanction to prosecute guilty Ministers or government officials.

The rewards of corruption are instant and gainful while any punishment or action is hugely delayed, disproportionate and sometimes easily avoidable due to the protection given by the higher powers that may be and inordinate judicial delays. This is the main reason why the high and mighty have no fear of the law. The conduct of many in high positions have repeatedly come under a cloud and many have gone scot-free and entire empires built with ill gotten wealth. Given the abysmal rate of conviction or closure of corruption cases, the impatience of the country is justified. Indians do not trust politicians, governments or the checks & balances and anti-graft institutions within the system. The politicians and bureaucrats will never pass laws which subject them to any scrutiny or strict action. This is the vacuum which Anna Hazare's movement has filled.
