2G spectrum,CWG,Adarsh ghotala. now house collapse in laxmi nagar, new delhi.

it is heart-wrenching to see the conditions under which these people were living. at least 355 people in an illegal, dangerous building ; 8-10 people in every dingy room. it was just like a slum except that it was more dangerous. slums dont collapse. this building did .every concerned authority was making money from these wrechted people:MCD,police, the building owner .these people were just guinea-pigs.now MCD-to save its skin- has slapped notice(after pocketing bribe) on 38 buildings.that means tens of thousands people-including children- will be on the roads.be absolutely sure that many of them will land up in slums -some of them new. at least they will not die in building collapse.delhi(and other cities) and full of such buildings and millions of people are living under similar conditions.

large numner of these people are from West Bengal.that is a proof what a communist goverment has done in the state they are ruling for 33 years. that makes lalu's performance in bihar look quite brilliant!!!

we are told that india is growing at 9% or 10% . certainly not these people, many of then dead now . but if you considre the money stolen from 2G,CWG ,it becomes clear where this growth is coming from !!!

Delhi is a Merryland where the guilty can always get away.....
by Globalcrusador on Nov 17, 2010 06:58 PM  | Hide replies

Delhi is perhaps the only place in the world where the guilty always get away and the blame for a disaster is put on God finally. Long time back a SafeWay departmental store in Toronto collapsed while under construction. The Govt immediately swung into action, check- ed if the structural design drawings were sound, whether the right approvals were received, whether the right quantum of cement, sand etc. was used during construction etc. and finally accountability was established & the guilty were identified and prosecuted. If the Delhi CM feels MCD is guilty, why does she not take action against them instead of simply blaming them for every mishap & getting away ? Does any one care for the poor who lost their lives ? Who allowed the add'l illegal floor to be built and if nobody approved, why was it not ordered to be demolished ?

It is high time, the governance experts came up with a standard criteria for investigating building collapses so that accountability at a specific level can be easily established. Else, we will simply be darting from one building collapse to another, simply mouthing sympathies and nothing more. Key question is how do we proactively prevent such tragedies in future ?

Poor of the Nation
by Rahul Tripathi on Nov 17, 2010 06:12 PM  | Hide replies

The Poor of the nation are neither Bengali, nor Bihari or Oriya. They are the POOR. They come out of a mother, who is deprived of basic education, healthcare, nutrition. They are fathered by an illiterate , psychologically weakened, insensitive, emotionally deprived poor person who is incapable of taking care of his children. The poor children are produced owing to the fact that their parents need additional working hands to make the ends meet. Only a few of them are lucky to receive education and proper care. Most of them repeat the cycle. India has allowed them to grow in number and consume its resources without having to pay the country a single penny in Tax. They are surviving and flourishing owing to the fact that they comprise a solid chunk of the vote bank. I think the country needs separate pollution control policies for the Tax payers and the Non Tax payers.

Well said brother. One of the reasons why many are born poor is because of careless parents who give birth to children only for their help and just for satisfaction that they have a family. But they fail to give necessary education.

My friend, Indians are finally realizing that there is very little to choose between Congress and the equally corrupt BJP. Just look at the land grab by CM in K'nataka while BJP looks the other way conveninetly. People of India are really caught between the devil and the deep sea right now.

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit told media persons, "I think that the disaster happened because of the carelessness of the owner.'

Very convenient... isn't it ?

She deserves a trophy for being the best "Master of Evasiveness". Obviously, she has not heard of the word "accountability" ever in her life, so far. Or the fact that the buck stops at the CMs table in any given state.
