well something is better than nothing. the airliner must have slowed down considerably by the time it hits the net. Also they could have few 100mtrs of Deep sand pits. I donot know if it is safe for airliners, but my car stops when it hits .5ft sand laid over 10ft.

u re right. I also was thinking same strategy i.e. sand pits to brake the plane wheels. The barrier actually caused the plane to explode in flames.

This runway is using for the last four years I trvelled several times.Experienced pilot & copilot,flight 2& half years old plus in agood condition.Better wait for Black box report let the truth come out untill no negative comment please.Onething is true most of the AI flights fell down that means there are some problems with Govt.So Govt.formulate a strategy implement it, evaluvate it in a consistent method.Aviation minister's resignation doesn't help here it will be equal to runaway from responsibilities.This is what I heard from a popular radio channel.

The blackbox should have a homing beacon. Why is it not built so?? Mistake by Pilot to abort landing. This was fatal error.

Prem, Praful Patel has not done any honest job. He does not allow Air India paycuts or layoffs, neither does he give them funds to reserruct themselves!!!
This is akin to killing the airline - so he could sell it off to some friendly buyer in return for kickbacks!

Mr.Prem, i am sorry to say but mr praful patel has done a horrible job as a civil aviation minister. over 2000 unemployed CPL holders thanks to false hopes, the great air india-indian airlines merger goof up(which he finally accepted was a mistake,still no action taken!!!!!), vested interest as he is now related to vijay mallya, letting foreign airlines eat away all the international market, plus god knows how many kickbacks on all the airport construction that were sanctioned under his tenure. he has made a lot of money. so please dont talk without the facts.

If Indians vote overwhelmingly for Congress immediately after 26/11, which was an attack on India, and NOTHING was done by Congress Govt in response... why you guys are cribbing now? These people would have died in another 26/11 anyhow some day. Why you are blaming Prem for airing honest views. Have you realized the burdens on Air India, thanks to Praful Patel's open air policies for foreign companies??? Have you realized the burdens on Mangalore Airport, because it is one of the few airports left for Air India to survive... considering Patel will not even allow paycuts or layoffs in Air India? Have you realized that when people die, they die irrespective of religion, caste, creed simply because of government inaction - while you continue to vote for your respective God's followers?

in the current parliment.most of them are enducated and some very highly.. but if they are educated they dont know how to run politics.. hence again depend on veterans... nothing can be changed in our contry overnight... even if they are educated that itself is a problem because they over do everything... like our good old tharoor...
