Middlemen are effectively milking money from poor people who like to get the card quickly, to get their gas subsidy, etc. The infrastructure and facilities that have been setup to issue the card are really pathetic. I have seen old people, 1adies with infants, etc standing in 2 KM queues, in hot sun, just to get this damnsh1t card. I can't understand why we need this card. They are issuing this card based on other ID and address proofs, which people would already have. Why do we need another ID and address proof? Why link it to sensitive welfare schemes like pension, etc? The logic is totally weird.

finger prints are required for criminals
by kinggurudev on Oct 24, 2011 05:00 PM

Mahatma Gandhi said,"...giving of finger prints, required by the Ordinance, was quite a novelty in South Africa. With a view to seeing some literature on the subject, I read
a volume on finger impressions by Mr. Henry, a police officer, from which I gathered that finger prints were required by law only from criminals." finger prints are required for criminals, UID/adhaar and National Population Register (NPR)is assuming everyone to be a criminal.

Real non researched piece
by Red Pascal on Jul 29, 2011 08:26 PM

Someone should see who is funding the author of these pieces that are only making allaegations and giving examples that are not linked- UID is not a census- it is not asking for caste or religion, so to link it with the Hitler and the Jews is being extremely liberal with the truth. Further the government actually does a census- where it does capture the religion of it's population- so that information is already with the government, so why do they need the UID for this info ? Never heard this author rail against the census. His repeated attacks on Nandan show that he has some axe to grind- someone needs to show this Gopal for waht he really is, not some activist, just a paid hack making his money by attacking what his paymaster is opposed to.

UID & Holocaust
by kinggurudev on May 12, 2011 11:30 AM

Former chief justice of Madras and Delhi High Courts, Justice A.P. Shah says, “In a situation like the Gujarat riots, profiling, and targeting a minority community could become extremely easy with UID Number”. Has it been addressed? Can the role of IBM in holocaust be ignored?

A government which cannot prevent leakage of 60 per cent of "Rs 1 lakh crore as subsidy for the poor this year through its welfare schemes for the intended beneficiaries cannot be trusted with CIDR. It is quite visible that Nilekani has dishonestly and insincerely says, UID project "has now metamorphosed into a massive transformational project" without revealing that its part of World Bank's eTransform Initiative and how it is linked to several other proposed Bills and programs. Isn't IBM part of World Bank's for "Transformational Government" initiative?

The entire write up is about Constitutional Human Rights violation: Will you please brief what would be these rights that are going to be violated? This is very essential for average citizenry to go about in the matter.
