True.. and same for Sri Achrekar... He groomed the cricketers almost 20 years ago and now they are giving the award...
Biggest joke is Saif Ali Khan getting Padma Sri... he he first a national award for an ordinary performance (cos his mom was the censor board chair person) and now this award.. shame shame!!
Time to give Bharat ratna to Viswanathan Anand.. the greatest sportsperson India has ever produced. He single handedly created a chess revolution in India.. Before him it was sad that in a country where the game originated, there were no Grandmasters. He is a three time world champion.

Chess is not a sport, but its a game. Does not take away any credit from Anand though. That dude is the best.

I think that these bollywood actors and actress should not be given Padmashri and Padmavibhushan awards. These people dont maintain decency hence there is no value for these prestigious awards Akshay Kumar alao got this award before but still he misbehaved on a ramp on a show. If that actor maintains decency on screen and in community then only he/she deserves to be given such awards But sad to say,no bollywood personality deserves these awards

Oh Boy! It's so glad that Ilaiyaraja has finally got recognition from GOI. What can I say about an artist and a person called Ilaiyaraja. Born in to a poor dalit family in a rural Tamil Nadu, he grew up to become one of the greatest geniuses India has produced. From a life with a Harmonium on his head, roaming along the streets for food to a symbol of power who could oppose anybody who tried to interfere with his musical creations, he has come a long way - with his hard work and staunch discipline. His understanding of fundamentals of music and human emotions coupled with hisspontaneity made him the awesome composer he was. From a jolly guy to a man whom the media stamped as arrogant, he has fought many. Classical Musicians, Music Critics, Journalists, all. From a person who played in the atheistic communist bands to a person who has the audacity to reject the movie on ultra famous 'Periyar' - as he doesn't share the idea of atheism' - I see a person who lives on his own terms. A person who has written every note of his music without the help of anybody while composing and who has excellently fusioned folk, Indian classical and Western classical and who has experimented like a theorist, who rejected the classifications in Music -- his life is as interesting as inspiring.
