Very very sad news
by FighterforGoodCause on Feb 24, 2010 01:07 AM

I hope the concerned would take right initiative here after.Comapnies should stop just chasing money and should look at some basic facilities are at the right place. Awareness and safety measures about fire accidents should be educated to employees.
This was a shocking tragedy but the cause can also happen b'se of ignorance and arrogance of some administrators.

Carlton Towers

Such a sad state. Wanted to share this. I had been to Carlton towers to get my laptop serviced about couple of years back. It so happend that i had reached the wrong floor in the building. So i had enquired with someone around and found that it was 2 floors above the floor i was in. So i had gladly taken the stairs which was actually the fire exit for the building. When i reached right floor it so happend that i landed directly into a software company. When i enquired where the service center was the people in the company were surprised to see me as to how i happend to enter inside their company without permission. I was able to enter that floor becoz some persons were out in the fire exit to have a smoke. I was then questioned and escorted out of the company through their main entrance.

I wondered as to how the people in other companies in the same floor had access to the fire exit when the fire exit for the floor is enclosed inside this s/w comp.

This is the state of our high rise buildings. Nothing is taken seriously. Is this not greed for money by letting out the space that was meant for a corridor to fire exit. It is definitely the failure of our govt in enforcing law. Corruption is another reason.

by fightagaintevils on Feb 24, 2010 12:18 AM

Almost all building in the cities dont have secondary door unlike villages.Similarly in buses also we should hav two doors and some removable windows too.In India ,Indians lives are least respected and money gets the most importance.Even employers wont want lose the productivity for fire exist drills. We are not at all prepared for worst case situation.

There is no single construction in India is possible without corruption and floating laws.May be 1% of the buildings compliant of fire, earth quake resistant procedures. All residential, commercial buildings are just hazards.I urge people to demand more from their working place, landlords etc. Many companies dont have proper fire handling procedures and people donno where the fire exist is.Some urgent laws are required and implemented to avoid another incident like this.

they never do have mock drills regularly in these buildings. One has to be extremely lucky if their high rise building even has properly marked fire exit these days..

Total recipe for disaster
by hotz on Feb 23, 2010 10:57 PM  | Hide replies

Today even educated people in high rise buildings dont invest in proper fire extinguishers and to top it off look at the number of mobile towers in the single building. If it was in europe the building owners and the carriers would be fined heavily.Such towers overload the electrical wiring and create maximum chances of fire breaking out..Mobile towers must be placed only in unoccupied land .These towers in residential areas are known to cause many cancers especially in children due to electromagnetic radiation that is why they are never observed in the open in europe and always located away from residential areas.

Mobile towers invention of western countries.. they never leak out the hazards of this mobile technologies as they are living out of that. we simple copy and use these in our over populated cities which is going to be big health disaster of the future esp for India and China.

These disasters are continuously happening in India. It will be in news headlines atleast for one week and people and media will forget everything.
Everyone should be serious in tackling these. No one is learning lesson from past incidents
