Any idea about the status of the guy in a blue shirt who just jumped down on his own on the advise of people below who seemed to hold a sort of sheet or something.
All our new buildings are just copy of Western Buildings - with full of Glass. This is the main problem. First it increases your Air Conditioner power bills. Second, it doesn't give proper ventilation when fire accidents like this occurs.
Buildings with Glass are useful in western countries as they are in very cold climates. India should not ape it.

yes Ram you are 100% right, thats the problem here we copy western technologies and we use them.. they earn a lot when we just copy them,
These buildings shilded with glass is suited for cold climate countries for various advantages not for our country which is mostly humid and need cooling inside and better air flow.
In most organizations in hi rise buildings, there are clear cut instructions pasted near the entrance as to what to do in case of a fire emergency. Govt. must make it mandatory for every organization to display these steps, prominently for every one to see. Secondly, there is nothing wrong in having aero bridges to adjacent hi rise bldgs so that people can quickly move over to safety in case of a fire. The last is the need for a helipad on top of high rise official buildings. We need to look far ahead in these matters.
There must be strict stipulations for the Builders by the Civic Authorities to follow safety norms and procedures in their buildings. Fire extinguishers with sign boards must be readily available in all apartments of the Building, both commercial as well as residential. There must also be emergency outlets available to the residing people in case of disaster. This must be followed in letter and spirit if we are to save precious lives in case of such man-made tragedies.

Majority of bangalore offices still use ancient methods of fire safety. True it is panic will kills people more than fire. People in any organisation should be trained on fire fighting skills, understanding the source of fire and the type of fire. Enough training should be provided by management so as to what type of fire extinguisher should be used on different categories of fire.organisation should form crack teams to deal with these type of emergencies. We should fight the fire within seconds because at later stage the situation goes out of hand as we cannot race against time. More important we feel fire fighting is our job rather than depending on fire fighters.

it is very sad news. this may happen. i have seen restaurants , hotels , bars etc in many big buildings downfloor. it should not be permitted. most of the time the fire may broke out because of this. if it happens then the fire will go up to some other upper floors .
I'm working in a building opp. to carlton towers, around 4pm yesterday few of my colleagues were told me that there is some fire in our building & asking to evacuate, where the actual fire happened in opp. building. As there was no alarm & announcement, i was browsing through the net & got to know this fire incident. This is how people create PANIC & chaos.

many people loose their sense and act immaturely. For them its a kinda of mockery taking place. Truly said evry employee should be trained for a fire drills.
Sad News! In India, we always tend to think tragedy happens due to fate and only happens to "someone else". When will we take safety seriously. It's high time we change this attitude.
The building owner should be arrested for criminal negligence . Also the companies associate with the deceased should be fined heavily for not following safety procedures. Accountability is the need now. Somebody has to pay the price for the lapses.
